Rear disc brake rebuild
Help.....if you have ever rebuilt a rear disc brake caliper. I have completed the rebuild but I am having difficulty seating the rubber boot back into the piston chamber. It is held in place by a wire clip that is seated inside the boot. How in the world do you get this clip to stay in place?
There has to a trick
Thanks

Yes......however based upon discussions with other 7 owners there is no tool for this job. I was hoping someone had done this rebuild and could share a trick for reseating this ruuber boot.

I looked into rebuilding the rear calibers a while back, I was told that it is more difficult than the fronts. They also said that rebuilt rear calibers from Mazda were relatively cheap (I think it was around $60, with exchange). If you consider the value of your time and the cost of the rebuild kit, buying rebuilt calipers from Mazda might be more cost effective.
I am not sure if this is helpful to your current situation but ....

I put the boot over the piston, and screwed the piston down to almost flush. Then I grabbed one end of the clip with needlenose, inserted the other end, and worked it down and around the boot.
PITA, sorry, it's not easy. But it's easier than 300 bucks for rebuilt rear calipers.
The fronts cost me ~70 bucks ea rebuilt.
