Rear Calipers on 3rd Gen
Ok I have a question about the rear calipers on my third gen. I have a stripped mounting hole on the caliper. The question is this, 2nd and 3rd Gen cars use the same rear brake pads, do they also use the same rear calipers? I have access to a 2nd Gen in a local wrecking yard and could pull the rear caliper I need off it. Just wondered if anyone knew anything about this. Thanks
I'm not sure about the caliper similarity on third and second gen's but I had the same problem while ago and both of the treads on my left rear caliper were stripped.
What I did was I went to sears and got a 36 piece Tap and Die set (just to make sure I got the needed size), the set cost me about 60 box with tax (expensive but very usefull for future problems). Retread the caliper and use one size thicker bolt and you got a new caliper again. No need changing and bleeding the brake fluid. It'll take less than 20 min. to do the job.

another thing you can do is go to the local fastner supply house and get a helicoil insert and tap. this way in teh future you are less likely to gall and you can keep the same size bold. a helicoil kit in your size will run you about 18$
