Rear Brake Calipers

I am in the middle of changing my rear brakes and rotors. The problem is I can't get the driver side caliper to compress. Am I missing something?

I used to have an 86, but never changed the pads. I assume they are similar to FD rears, i.e.: floating calipers with screw-in pistons?

They won't compress just by using a normal compressor. The piston faces have slots in them because you have to screw them in to compress them. There are tools you can buy at any auto parts store to fit the slots, but when I changed mine, I just used a large pair of needle nose pliers.

So, the pistons went in when you turned them?

Yes. You will damage the auto-adjustment if you just push them in.
