raising car, the cheap way

anyone got any ideas on how one would go about raising a fd's suspension in some way which is easily removable (gotta get pass tech inspection but dont wanna pay that much or want it permenent). I was thinking of shims or something which i could put at the top or bottem of the struts. anyone else got any other ideas? oh and i have tried the little clamp things which go between the springs, they wont pass recon.

i was thinking of buying rubber shims (1-2 inchs thick), compress lower arm with a floor jack and capture the spring compressed this way with coil spring compressors and then lower the jack slowly and see if this allows me enough room to insert the spacer and insulator. its easily removable and fairly safe. any comments?
