Question Racing Sparco 17s

I have finally made up my mind on a set of wheels. I plan to do the Racing Sparco NT-R Bronze in a 17x9 5-114.3 45 size. I'm also planning to run some Bridgestone S03s 255/40/17 all the way around, unless I can go bigger in both front and back. I have about a 1.25" drop right now. Anyone see any problems with that setup or anything I should watch out for? Thanks.

Here's the rims:

I still like the 5Zigen FNO1R-Cs for that price range better.

bricke: I like those wheels! How much do they weigh, what do they cost, where are you getting them from, and do they come in black?

17.2 lbs each according to this:

I plan to get them through www.discounttiredirect.com unless I can find a better price elsewhere. And yes, they do come in black. Cost is $237 for black, $242 for bronze.

So I shouldn't have any fitment issues with this setup?

255/40/17 on a 17x9" +45 up front will be great... near perfect. I've run this exact setup.

For the rear, I've also run 275/40/17 on a 17x9" +45. It will fit fine, no rubbing. Note that that is the narrowest rim that a 275 will fit on so it will fit fine, just isn't optimal.

The 275 I have (Bridgestone RE71) is seriously the widest 275 i've ever seen, almost 1" wider than even other 275's on 10" rims.... I would think most brands would fit a 9" wheel even better than mine do...

However, since you are looking at S03s, they don't come in 275/40/17... only 265/40, 255/50, and 245/40.

You could combine the 265 rear with either the 255 or 245 front and be very happy.

Run 255/40-17 all around with the 45-mm offset, 9 x 17. It's optimal for practicality, performance, and wheel rotation flexibility.

I agree with Pete, RE71 275/40-17s are huge, and probably belong on a 10 or 10.5 wide.

FWIW, the 255/40-17 S-03s are quite wide as 255s go. If you're going from 225/50-16 to 255/40-17, it will be a huge difference in performance and looks. You will be quite happy. Take lots of pics, and post them on the forum!

Sounds like I will do the 255/40/17 all the way around then. That seems to be the common size that people suggest. I am currently running 245/45/16, but I do hope I can see a little bit of gain in width More traction = good!

Yeah, 245/45-16 on 8 wide is still going to be a quite a jump to 255/40-17 on 9 wide. Your car will look great! Braking, handling, acceleration will improve, given there is adequate traction...you'll think you got some cool new suspension mod, eventhough you just changed wheels/tires LOL
