Hey everyone, Sorry if this topic has been gone over before, I searched and i couldnt find what i was looking for.

With that said.

Whats the general "storage life" on tires would everyone say? Someone i know has some tires that have been sitting around for about a year and a half and i was wondering if they are still worth anything.

The ones i am particularly interested in are drag radials. He said that he used them for a short period of time, and them put them away, then he got rid of his car and never used them again. Well, about a year and half later they are still there, So i was just wondering, Can i use them? and are they even worth buying from him?

depends on conditions. The best is in a cool place in plastic bags, the worst is in a shed with constant temp changes. Generally tires last 5 years though.

 

Tires should be stored away from electric devices, and away from light. Apparently the magnetic waves and light age the rubber. Not so sure about temperature changes. Ask the guy how the tires were stored. If he's giving the tires to you, then I wouldn't worry about it.

 

alright.. Ill ask him, But im pretty sure they were stored in his garage. Im not sure if it was heated or not. hes not just giving them to me though, thats why i wanted to know if it was worth it for me to buy them or not. Thanks for the replys guys.
