question about super slammed cars w/ ground effects

when people have a car that's slammed to the ground w/ really low side skirts, how do they get a jack under the car?

Heh, heh. Interesting question. I never really thought about that one. I suppose they'd have to put a pit in their garage.

Fairly simple, I have two pieces of 2x12 that I drive on to then jack the car up. In addition the lower portion of the front bumper/spoiler is connected with zuess fasteners so that the car can be driven onto a trailer easily. Carl Byck

My car isn't super slammed, but the sideskirts I have reduce clearance a bit. Dropped 3/4" in the front and 1 1/4" in the rear w/TIEN coilovers.

In order to get the lift arms to swing under the car I have to pull up on the fender well (reduce weight rest on the suspension) which gives the extra 1/2" of clearance needed.

My regular 3 1/2 ton floor jack, just barely fits under there without lifting on the car. I would do what Carl does if I had to though...(drive up on 2x12).

yeah, the dzus fastened front ends explain the drag cars, but what about the show cars. if you've been to a show lately you've seen those cars slammed to the point that the front bumper and side skirts touch the ground. they're too low to even fit a peice of paper under the bumper, let alone a plank of wood. how do they raise them up again after the show? in fact how do they get the jack out from under the car after they've lowered it?

dude, i know how to raise a lowered car. what i'm talking about are those cars that are completely slammed to the ground where you can't fit anything underneath.

I think the cars you're refering to are using air bag suspension. Not sure how it works (not interested) but I believe they use compressed air to raise and lower the car. I've seen cars drive up and park then hit a switch that slams it to the ground. Not my cup of tea, I can't imagine this handling very well at all. Maybe someone can enligthen us.

I also think they are using a airbag system.

Maybe they don't use a jack...They either but them on a lift. When they do so they have to raise the car as high as it will go.

I don't have a "kit" but I'm lowered around 2-2.25, with an after market Front lip, and I have to use 4-5ft boards to get on the rack to work on my car. But a low profile jack is no deal, goes right under my car...has to be a slim one tho.

Well you could install an air jack system on the car to raise/lower it independently of the suspension.

Or, you could use portable airbags to raise the car, set the perches to the low position, then deflate the bags. When the show's over, you could reinflate, set the perches to a drivable ride height and move the car.

Air jacks would be a lot easier though.
