Question about model-year differences in rear suspension subframe for FD 3rd gen RX-7

Anyone with knowledge of specific differences in the rear subframe of 3rd gens year to year? Looking at a parts manual it is clear they have different part numbers year to year, as well as for manual/auto cars. I'd like to know if they are compatible between model years and if so, what modifications need to be made to make them fit, i.e. is it a straight swap or not? Also, are there any differences with the suspension pickup points between model years and/or manual/auto models?

My car was unfortunately in a collision and I need to replace the rear subframe on it as well as some suspension pieces. It is a 93 with manual transmission.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

This is all I was able to find:
"94-95 Have 2 additional braces under the rear subframe to minimize the rear subframe from flexing under load(Mostly to try and prevent axle hop)"

so did you see different part numbers for 94 and 95 or were they the same and 93 was a different number?

Thanks for looking that up. From what I can tell (low quality scan) it looks like in 93 there were three parts listed:

FD01-28-80XF <----? Scan is low quality
FD01-28-80XH or possibly -80XN This entry was in parentheses with an 'A' in front of it.
and:
FD01-28-80XB

For 94 just one part:

FD15-28-80XB

For 95 one part:

FD15-28-80XB as well

So as you stated the 94/95 seem to have the same part number, while the 93 has two or possibly three.

Anyone out there have practical knowledge of compatability from working on different model years? Or could a 94/95 owner provide some pictures of what their rear subframe looks like for comparison?

By the way this is where I'm looking at the parts manuals:

Thats interesting. I thought the extra braces were put in the later series starting in either 96 or 99.

A lot of those "letter" suffix changes are often very minor....and you'd be hard pressed to notice differences, if any. The prefix changes on the other hand, usually denote a significant change.

Have 92, an installed 95 (in a 92 bodyshell) and a subframe from an auto S8 about the place(but no part nos evident), I'd be extremely surprised if any of them don't mix 'n match looking at the pick-ups. It appears you can purchase the bracing to upgrade your early subframe if required too - if you don't want to do any fab.....28-85Y, 28-86Y.

Expect a later second-hand frame complete, would be a cheaper option though.

I'm pretty sure the later subframe bolts right in. I remember a thread from a couple of years ago went over that.
