The front will be fine if you run a 235/40/18. A 8,5 with a +40 works well, therefore the 8" +35 should sit around the same location.
As for the rear you'll be fine running a 265/35/18 which are what I reccommend. When going way beyond that you'll run into issues.
Good luck, Rishie

Rx7 Rage,
35 mm offset on 8 x 17 front will be tight...might get some rubbing of the fenderlip (especially left front). 41-mm would have been better. You'll need to go with 225/45-17 tire size.
41 mm offset on 10 x 17 rear will be ok if you go with a conservative tire size like 255/40-17 to keep the outside tire shoulders from rubbing the rear fenderlips.
My choice for width and offset combo for the GTN would have been 9 x 17 fr and 10 x 17 rr with 44-mm offsets for both. Tire sizes would have been 235/45-17 fr and 265/40-17 rr. Tires would have been Bridgestone Potenza S-03s.
Here's my source for the recommendation:

I was told GTN rims require disc type A for the front to clear the caliper. The highest offset would be a 41 for a 17x9. I should receive my GTNs in the next day or so. Ordered 18x9 42 and 18x10 49. Hope to have them on this weekend and will post on fitment. If I had found this board earlier I would have ordered from ARD T2, as most places do not have the knowledge on fitment that he has. Jeff

Jeff,
Ahh...well the wheel centers have different caliper clearances, which affect offset choice. I wasn't aware of that at all, so in fact one needs to talk to a true Volk Racing Wheel Dealer, like ARD T2

I think you should run what Manny has suggested. That will most likely fit the best, have the least problems, as well as retain the same rolling diameters front and rear relatively speaking. I was gonna suggest 235/40/17, but I don't think you're lowered enough in the front to achieve optimal aesthetics with that width and profile. 225/45 much better. Will look right.
Good luck, Rishie

Yeah...
Nothing against Rishie's suggestion at all...235/40-17 tends to have very short sidewalls, and will not provide the proper weight index (225/45-17 is actually a little light too at 1356 lbs (at max pressure) vs 1389 lbs for the 225/50-16 stock tire).
Ideally you'd go with 235/45-17 fr on 8 or 8.5 x 17 and 265/40-17 on 9.5 or 10 x 17. The problem is your offset up front won't allow the 235/45-17 size because that tire is a bit taller than stock, and your offset pushes that wheel further outside, increasing the chances of your outside tire shoulders pulling down fender lips. This is why I suggest 225/45-17.
You could still do 265/40-17 in back (with 225/45-17 up front) if you want, it's just that you'll dial in a bit more understeer with a wider tire in back...but...if it's a street application, who cares right

Ok, why is it that Rx7 Forum members buy (expensive) wheels WITHOUT consulting a dealer what the proper offset is for their car's application It's the wheel dealer's responsibility for fitting your wheels PROPERLY.
I guess Rishie's Automotive R&D is the only shop that knows what the proper fitments are supposed to be for any given vehicle!!!???
I don't know...someone help me understand what's with all these offset questions??

Yeah, we'll even do front and backspacing measurement before putting orders through. Check for caliper clearance and even inquire about future brake upgrades that may be needed to take into consideration at the time of purchase.
Manny, thanks for the endorsement. We do try our best, as well as collect data from members to assure great fitment.
Thanks, Rishie
