Positive & Negative on Racing Beat Springs

After buying them off the seat of his pants and not waiting for me to look up info my dad got them to get a "lower" stance. Since I use his car in SCCA stock class Im not wild about this but w/e no biggie. Anyways Ive heard alot of bad things about them and people with 17 or 18 inch rims. Im running stockers and I want to auto-x reguarly are they good for me? Im going to combine them with tokikos.

I've never used them, but I've only heard/read the hearsay.

The spring rate isn't that much over stock which is what causes problems when running larger wheels (lower spring, not too stiff... equals same bounce area with less room before the tire). However, it's a linear spring so it should be very good for tracking with the stock wheels. It will probably be quite a bit rougher on the roads than the stock springs.

I made this thread. Might help you come to your own conclusions. I've posted mine in there. Racing Beats are just toooooo soft. Straight up. I can imagine why guys would have rubbing problems with wider than stock, lower offset than stock, wheels. Even slightly taller tires could induce a rubbing of the inner fender liner under a turn.

Isnt a higher spring rate better for cornering? If these are just a hair over stock then why bother right? *sigh* I guess I'll be a test dummy.

Well, higher spring rate will help in handling at the sacrifice of a smooth ride.

The Racing Beat springs are for people who want a stock ride with a lower look.

The RS*R Race springs have a pretty hard spring rate. I bought mine off of Rx7store. The springs are 441lbs(front) 391(rear). The car seems much stiffer over the stock springs, but not to the point of rattling your teeth out. The springs give the car that "go-kart" feeling. I havent had a chance to autox my car, but on the streets the car keeps telling me to push her harder.

These RB Springs SLAMMED the car to the ground. Im getting rubbing issues on stock wheels and tires!!! Its using Tokiko shocks which I can immediately tell the difference in the rebound. Sway bars coming in soon. Anyway to help lower oversteer?

Folks, usually when one put RB springs on a car the stock suspension bits are tired and sagged. On the FB and FC they work great as a decent non-track car setup. I can see that on a 3rd, which is stock almost at track-spec, they would be little to no help.

I've heard good things about the Tein coilover setup.
