positive camber in the back or optical illusion

my car was parked at an empty lot today and i noticed that the rear looks like it has positive camber

granted it wasn't perflect flat (the parking lot).

so i'm wondering if you FD owners ever noticed that your camber looks positive enough though it's negative.

got an alignment a few months ago, so it should be good.

generally if your eye is telling you your rear camber is positive it is.

perhaps the shop forgot to lock the camber adjuster after setting it. i would believe my eyes and have the shop that aligned your car check the #s and verify that the adjuster was tightened.

or...

buy a $7 magnetic 360 degree protractor and a 16/17/18 inch piece of angle steel (length depends on your wheel rim size).

if you really want to do it right buy a 6 foot piece of aluminum square tubing and two 3/4 inch sockets. locate the spot where your front wheels will be and place the 2 sockets on the floor and under each end of the aluminum square tubing. place your angle finder in the center of the tubing and read and record the lateral pitch of the floor. do the same thing for the rear of the car.

check that the air pressure in your tires is even laterally (30 front 27 rear).

place your car where you measure the pitch of the floor.

position the piece of angle steel so it contacts the upper and lower lip of your wheel. place the angle finder on the steel and you'll have your camber.

don't forget to take into consideration the floor pitch.

ideally you should run about 1 to 1.5 degrees negative camber front and rear.
