Thumbs up Porsche 993 TT Calipers.....yummy!

Saw this on ebay--the fronts look they're four piston. How hard is it to retrofit these suckers on our FDs? I seem to recall reading an SCC article waaaay back in the day where either a cym or a silver FD (houston guys---krutilek and kelleher? westbrook and barber? can't remember) had something similar installed on their rex.

You need a special mounting bracket machined from a solid block of "aluminium" (as the Aussies would say LOL )

I have also heard that they are MUCH heavier than the stock 93 fd or 99+ RZ fd calipers

yup...i use these on the front and 99 rz/rs rears. my car is a track only car.

they are awesome brakes, no bones about that. i use a OEM 993 turbo rotor as well. (180 bucks at porsche dealer), and hawk blue pads. the caliper requires an adapter plate which used to be available via www.ultimategarage.com

they are heavier than other big brake kits but i have no way of comparing performance.

Brad use to have on of the first sets of Porsche big brakes on his silver FD. That was the car that was stolen by a local car thief (he is in jail). Brad can give full details.

I remember speaking to Brad the day after the incident came to closure. I hope that guy [Edit: the thief, not Brad ] is getting his fudge packed on a daily basis.........

Brake kits are such a rip off:

two front 993 calipers: $700
Two 993 rotors: $360

Thats $1060... and Mov-It probably gets the stuff cheaper

Mov-It kit: $2600.

SO
You're paying over $1500 for two rotor hats, and two machined alluminum spacer/mounts for the caliper. (plus lines and pads if you really want to nickle and dime).

Check the Mov-It parts list, and you can buy everything in the kit for significantly less than the kit price (minus the caliper mounts, which would be cheap to manufacture... prolly under $100)

All in all probably at least40% profit.

The orange FD on display at SS5 in the courtyard is under 2300lbs with a 20B and FULL roll cage extending all the way to under the hood. The car is almost completely C/F except for the roof. The owner, Jeff, races it at SCCA.
