please educate me about Brake Rotors

TireRack has the brembo rotors for about $50 a pop, they also have $120 a piece power slot rotors

are there any difference between them ?

how about autozone rotors ?
and these : http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,1896
@$15 a piece if there no performance gain / difference at all compare to the brembo rotors they seems to be a good deal

heck, a lot of those brembo u see out on the market is not even real brembos

anyways are there any difference between those blank rotors ? i m talking about just plain blank rotor, not slotted not drilled, that topic was beat to death already

There are differences in metal composition, thickness, and venting design. I would go with the Brembos from Tire Rack (they will be real Brembos).

an ex-friend ran autozone $20 rotors on his dc2 type R with high heat pads at multiple hpde, running hpde groups 2 and 3. i believe they were cobalt pads but i don't remember. never cracked or warped on him. he bedded properly, and swapped out for street pads and street bedded rotors for normal driving.

Well the good thing about AutoZone rotors is you can change them out every 2-3 events and not be out but a few $$. But the Brembos or Powerslots will probably last alot longer and be alot better rotor.

If you are serious about tracking your car, the Power Slot all the way.

For just street driving, AutoX, etc, go with the Brembo 's. However for some reason I thought Brembo stop producing the rear rotors in the FD size.

True, they did stop making them, I contacted Brembo myself. Also, contact these people, they have good deals on Brembo fronts http://www.importrp.com/cart.php

I seriously doubt that you'll make up the price difference between the $15 and $50 rotors by having the $50 last longer. They'd need to last more than 3x as long for that to work out.

Many, many people use the cheap, generic parts store rotors. They're widely used on Miatas, including the Spec Miatas. No one seems to have any particular problems with them.

In case you decide to go slotted your club deal would entitle you to a better price on the Racingbrake ones which have been widely discussed in this forum. You should be able to answer all your questions about rotors by looking at the "FD NEW Brake Options" thread.

http://www.racingbrake.com/RX7_FRONT...1-211-1433.htm
http://www.racingbrake.com/RX7_REAR_...2-111-1435.htm

Racingbrake sells them direct on sale for $124.00 ea, so naturally your club deal will be better than this.

Let me know if you decide to go slotted. If this is just a street car then don't worry about it unless you want the "look".
