Hey, are the SSR Comps made hubcentric for our FD Rx7s, or do you need hubcentric centering rings? I called Tire Rack, and the sales rep said the SSR Comps for the FD are made hubcentric...I'd like to confirme what the sales rep told me (they're not always right).

Please post a pic of your car with the new SSR Comps once you mount tires. I have a red FD, so I'm especially interested in what the Comps will like on my car!

I wish I could afford 2 sets of these wheels (street and track). I think next season, I'll need to compromise and run UHP street tires like Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetrics. 235/45-17 for the 8.5 x 17 and 265/40-17 for the 9.5 x 17.

I have experience with the P-Zero tires now in 225/50-16 on 8 x 16 SSR Integral A2s. The Pirellis are sticky enough to rival the Yokohama A032Rs and Kumho V700s. I also like the P-Zero's ultra-stiff sidewalls and the asymetrical tire design (they can roll in either direction). Decent treadwear as too. Had my set for over a year, with 10,000 miles on them. Still has 6/32nd depth after 4 track events, 2 autocrosses, and daily street driving from Sept 2000 to just last month.

I have rings... I think only big-buck rims like Fikse's and Kinesis are made hub-center to a car.

I will not have tires mounted on the SSR's until Nov-Dec Need to wear out my current tires a little more.

And S02's are also good track tires...

Hey, Max!

Let me know what you think of your Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Poles. In thinking about my SSR Comp wheel/tire combo, I'm thinking hard about going with the S-03s instead of the Pirelli P-Zeros, mainly because the UTQG on the S-03s is 220, vs Pirelli's 140 UTQG. My local autocross club allows a generous 2-second handicap for tires with UTQG of 180 or greater. With the P-Zeros, I was running against cars with R-compound tires. This is especially tough because I run in ASP. The tire sizes I'll use with the S-03s on the SSR will be:

235/45-17 on the 8.5 x 17s
255/40-17 on the 9.5 x 17s.

In looking at the S-03 specs that Tire Rack provides, the section widths will be 9.6 and 10.6 inches respectively wih the 8.5 and 9.5 x 17 SSR Comp wheels (I've added 0.2 inches to each section width since the spec wheels were 0.5 inches narrower).

Eventhough I have dedicated R-compound wheels/tires, I won't "waste" my Hoosiers on autocrossing. I find that autocrossing the R3S03s just don't get the tires warm enough to generate significantly more stick, compared with track driving with the R3S03s. That and I'm too lazy to change tires for an autocross--but I don't mind it much for a track day

hey ARD T2- can you post prices of the SE37ks for everyone to see? if they come in bronze i am interested in purchasing a set from you. im interested in 18s with 255 in front, 285 in the rear....unless someone can come up with some better tire sizes for me. i have 400 horse to the rear wheels so i think staggering the wheels is a good idea. Thanks

Dreamin'/MaxCooper

Dreamin'--did your SSR Comps from Rishie come with the SSR Competition decals on the spokes? I don't recall, and your pics aren't up anymore?

MaxCooper--what do you think of the LE37Ks? People have posted that the LE37Ks are lighter than the SE37Ks? Any info on that claim? Any idea on the price of the LEs vs your SEs?. I'm inclined to go with the SSRs simply because they're (relatively) cheap and very light, but I do love the racing mesh look of the LE/SE37Ks!

Your thoughts, please!

The LEs look great, and I have also heard/read that they are a little lighter (at least for the T wheels). I read some web site where they weighed some TE37s and some LE37Ts and the LEs were lighter, but I don't remember how much. And frankly, there isn't much to get rid of on the SE -- the spokes are pretty darn thin! I think the LEs cost more, but I don't know for sure.

I am really, really happy with my SEs and don't have any plans to switch, but I would also consider the LEs if I was shopping now.

Max

Did your SE37Ks come in a bright silver finish? How much different were the fancy centercaps. I do like the plain ones, but was curious about the $26 versions If the LE37Ks cost significantly more for a very small weight savings (compared with the SE version), then I think I'd rather go with your wheels!

Anyone have pics of Max's wheels in bright silver?

To help answer some questions, the centercap options vary upon offset of the wheel. Some offsets don't offer a centercap and some offsets only offer one of the centercap options. Kinda complicated.

I can't post prices on the forum as it would be unfair to other retailers, I will however PM you and get your special forum pricing that way. These prices cannot be used for negotiation with other distributors. If I receive a call I will have to void the estimate.

The SSR comps come with decals, but is left up to you to put them on. They do not come pre-installed on the wheels.

Thanks, Rishie

BTW, the black SE's are not available anymore to me. SUCKS!!!, good for MAX though. I love the black SE K.
