i have 9.5" on the rears of my car.. they are +40 and with the coilovers they are sunk maybe a half inch. ill take a pic tomorrow

Run somewhere around +40 to +35 on the offset...
Anything wider than a 255...265 tire is tight.
If you're trying to run a 275 (or wider), run around +35 offset and be prepared to roll the fender lip.

No, those are for stock type shocks.
If you're running aftermarket coilovers, you will most likely get more clearance.
With those tire widths, anything between +40 and +35 should be good.

In the rear, its not shocks that are the limiting factor. It's not your muffler heat shields either, its the rear control arm (notice lack of the word "A-arm" because its a semi-trailing arm system). I run 9.5" wide 18" wheels 35 offset with a 265/35/18 BFG KDW which is slightly wider then other brand tires. The tires (not the rims) are really close to the trailing arm were the clearance between the coil spring (stock or aftermarket coil over) and muffler heat shields are greater then the trailing arm. There is NO rubbing be it trail arm nor STOCK un rolled/pulled or modified fender wells. Perfect fit. A 275 *Might* fit, but overall height will be taller with a tiny 10mm (less then half an inch) gain in width. Mind you, my BFG's are probly wider then most other brand widths. I'm not one for super wide wheels with tiny width tires and running stupid camber and fender rolling/pulling to fit the "mad tight dorifto phat lipped mega offset" wheels. I like wide tires that fit on wide wheels for great TRACTION both in accel/brake AND turning. A 265 on a 9.5" wheel has a tini tiny stretch yet looks great IMHO. To each there own, this is my REAL experiance, not hearsay.

BTW, higher offset with same width tire will hit the a arm, if not in straight line, in HARD cornering. Lower offset will drag against the fender. Like I said, a 275 *might* work, just keep in mind hard driving most likely will cause tire contact either inside or out. Lower offset WILL require narower tires.

I'm running 9.5" Rear +38 offset. 275/40/17 tires, i had to run a small spacer in the rear (5mm or less) and i rolled the fender lips.

not looking to stretch or put enormous tires on. im looking to run a 9.5" wide tire on a 9.5" wide rim. according to FC3S pro a 245/40/17 is 9.6" and is still close to the stock OD. now would anything lower than 35 hit the fender?

you could probably do ~ +30 with stock fenders, or a little lower if you want to roll them, or start to pull.
