Ordering Wheels/Tires Package from Tirerack Online

I am ready to order from Tirerack.com ship to my door.

2 -18X8 Mille Milglia Evo5
2 -18X9 Mille Milglia Evo5
2 -265/35WR18 Dunlop SP Sport FM901
2 -235/40WR18 Dunlop SP Sport FM901

Total $1495.00

I've seen the vitual model of these wheel but does anyone have them on there FD.

I called Tirerack and the sales person said they would fit perfectly with no tire rubs. Should I beleive that? Based on what I've read and searched on the forum doesn't look like I'm going to the max width so I don't see any fitment problems with my stock FD springs.

I want to get the widest wheel and tire combo without having to modify suspension / fenders or use offsets to look good.

Also with this being shipped to my door has anyone ever had problems with damaged wheel/tire package when buying online?

Comments anyone before I order?

Alex

What are the offsets F and R? Don't know if they'll rub unless we know the offsets...

OK I LOve the look

BrianK

My FD is black like yours I love the way it looks.
What's the F/R tire size you have. Do they rub anywhere?

Is that the exact wheel I posted? If not what brand and where did you buy them?

Alex, the ones in the pic are 19's. And if I remember correctly, the car is Montego... But yes, the look is very clean... But I wouldn't go much bigger than the 18... for driveability reasons.

Are you aware that those wheels weigh 27-30 lbs EACH? That is double what the stock wheels weigh!

Also, 235/40R18 will be over 1/2 inch taller than stock. If you are lowered at all, you might have rubbing problems. Also, what are the offsets of the wheels? They should be in the +40 to +50 range.

Why don't you PM Rishie (ARD T2) and see what he can do for you in your price range. He offers forum members discounts on many different wheel lines. You might have to go down to 17s (more streetable anyway) but you can get much better wheels than those Mille Miglias.

I called TireRack
The wheel offset at Front 40m and the Rear 45mm

I'll call them back for the weight of the wheels. I'm not racing at all on my FD just touring style driving and puching to 0 - 60 MPH at most 100 MPH when clear of the law. THats about it.

Thanks for the comment I'll PM ARD T2 for pricing. Also my suspension is all stock springs other than the Tokio 5 adj shocks.

Yeah sure...go ahead...spend your money on bling bling boulders. Tire Rack will take your money!

Seriously 0-60 times will be affected by 30-lb wheels. If you add the 30-lb tire, we're talking 60 lbs at each corner compared to 39 lbs for stock. 20 lbs extra at each corner WILL slow your 0-60 times, and take away the transient response of your stock suspension (which was setup with 39-lb wheel/tire combo)...

Ok Now I'm a bit concerned. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations on a wheel that is similare to the Mille Miglia Evo5. I like that styling but a lighter wheel would be nice.

OK I post postponed the purchase. I've PM'd ARD T2.
I don't know who he is but it sounds like from what I read on the forum I can purchase a set of wheels from him. I like the 5 spoke see through type design and I don't have $700 to spend for Volks per wheel. And I prefer a one piece wheel. So back to research.
So if any one wants to help me spend some money for MY FD wheels/tires I'm open for suggestions.

I am now considering
SSR Competition 18X8.5 17lbs.
SSR-Competition 18X9.5 18lbs.
or
SSR GT1 18X8 19lbs
SSR GT1 18X9 19.5 lbs

The stock wheels are 16 pounds.

Any one have any pics of these wheels on FD's

do a search for pics on the forum, you can also go to tirerack and use their wheel selector. It works pretty well.

Those are much better wheel choices by the way! There are some concerns about the road durability of the 18" SSR comps, although I don't think any FD owners have had any problems. With the comps you could run 245/40 and 265/35. Actually, with the GT1s, you could run 18x9s all around in the +45 offset (Tirerack will say you can't). You could then run 245/40 or 255/40 tires all around. (Just trying to convert more to the cause, Manny...)

I'd stay with the 17-inch SSR Comps for road use. The 18s might prove too fragile.

Also look into the Volk Gram Light 57 Pros...there's a thread on these wheels already...

Oops, I just wanted to point out that the tire sizes I recommended in my last post were not quite correct.

for 18" comps: 245/35 and 265/35
for 17" comps: 245/40 and 265/40

for 17" GT1s: 245/40 or 255/40
for 18" GT1s: 245/35 or 255/35

I search and search and then some. Looks like it will be a 18" SSR GT1.

Though I can't find a good pic with a FD with just polished brushed clear coat look. I still like the Mille Miglia EVo5 but to heavy. Has any one ever noticed a big or significant change in the FD with heavy wheels?

I keep thinking heavy wheel just add more HP!
Add more brake Big Brake kit. Seems like when I add or change it causes a chain reaction to keep performance balance up. Its only money right?

I keep telling the wife I'm done with upgrades for the FD. But I keep finding more stuff to bolt on this rolling money pit. I've spend way to many hours reading the post/forum it just makes me want to keep spend money on the FD.

STill have the 2nd GenSports to deal with. I'm going to put the 3rd gen wheels on the 2nd gen when I get new wheels for the FD...

I keep asking myself when will all the spending stop!!!

Crap just got a raise and a big bonus....OK time to spend what's next 20B for the FC???

Don't tell the wife..............................

Recommended a 265/35WR18 for the rear SSR GT1 18"
I'm going with 18X8 in front and 18X9 in rear. Soon as I get final pricing I'm ordering.

I PM'd ARD T2 Still waiting on respones though.
