Ordered a set of Potenza RE750 tires today

Local tire store had them for damned near the same price as TIRERACK, ended up being $722 after taxes. Hell....I paid more than that for the Michelins on my S80!

Here is a good write up/comparison on the tires for anyone interested. Ranked 3rd overall....not bad!

Went with 245/45 by the way.

Did you look at the Falken Azenis by any chance? I ask because those things are REALLY good and not too expensive either (under $150 each). I recently rode in a FWD car that had them and they were getting so much traction that IN THE RAIN, they weren't even spinning......they were HOPPING. Holy crap batman, I've never seen a tire do that in the wet, much less on a FWD. Dry cornering and braking is also just outstanding.

From what I have read in various mags about those tires is that yes, they are incredibly grippy but....if you get 15,000 miles out of them consider yourself lucky. They are a highly recommended tire for FWD cars, by the way. Not sure why, with FWD naturally being a little more "grippy" anyways......

I just got these same ones mounted, tax, out the door for a little over $500. Actually if you look at the tread wear is 300+, they're supposed to last for a while.

They're ranked 3rd overall in the "Ultra High Performance Summer" tires category. And that is based on a customer survey, not actual testing. Definitely a good tire and much better then most FD owners are/should be running, but for not much more you could have gotten a set of S0-3 Pole Positions (max performance tire). My personal preference.

Yes, I never meant to imply they were "3rd best" in anything other than that posted customer survey, there are a LOT of very fine tires not even listed in that survey. I too really like the S0-3 but the local Firestone dealer couldn't order them for some reason, plus I felt that there was no way I would ever need that sort of tire as I don't track my car, and finally the difference in the wear ratings tipped the scales (for me) in favor of the RE750.

After doing some more research, those Fuzion tires that were ranked 12th overall in that survey are actually made by Bridgestone and seem to be a near-copy of the RE750, made available for a cheaper price.....oh well, call me a name-dropper but I LIKE seeing the POTENZA name on the side of my tires.

Oh man! I wish I knew where you got that deal from, as FIRESTONE has a "150% price guarantee", meaning if you find the exact same tire for a lower price, they will refund 150% of the difference. Hell....I'd be looking at getting back...$330 or so? Whoooohooooooo!

Yea, I didn't want it to come off as an accusation I just wanted to clarify for those that take this into account when picking new tires.

All valid points and good reasons why you picked the right tire for what you wanted.

Bridgstone has a warranty now that if u take their new tires and wear them down to 3/32nd's within 3 y ears you get the same tires all new and free. that's amazing. I run the potenza 750's and iv had them for about a month. they were full tread, they are down to about 8/32nd. **** in another month i'll be right back there gettin my new and free potenzas again. this time i'll make em last. the potenza 750 is an awesome tired. beware wet roads or snow. just ...dont. i had the g009's on for the snoy ****. H rated but all season, versus Z rated and straight summer.

After a lil over 3k miles on mine (just put them back on again for the summer) I've only grown to like them more. They have as much grip as you'd ever need on the street, and ride reasonably well. I noticed they have a bit of a whine on concrete roads though, which is pretty much my only gripe with them. Also, they suck in the snow lol.
