OK... one more what pad should I.....

I know there is a thousand pages of bad comparo. I have one thay may be a scad different I hope.
I have stock calipers and stock size sloted rotors. I run R compound tires 275 rear and 255 front. I'd like a pad that will stop me on the street and be good for quick mountain driving. I do track the car a few (2-3) times a year but I'm not to good. I don't want to tun a track set for track and change them for street. EBC red too mutch for the street? I was going to buy the green stuff but I read that they have broken at about 1/2 life on the track. I've also read that the Hawk dust like hell and the track pads squeak like mad.
With the R compound tires and the car 80% hardish driving can I get away with EBC reds?
I have the project Mu on there now and they are OK but I don't have much to compare them to.
I would go with the green but I'm afraid of them disintegrating on the track?????

I'd say suck it up about the dust and run some Hawk HPS. I've had mine on for about 20k mostly street, some autox, and quite a few runs on the Dragon at Deals Gap. Still have tons of pad left and they stop me on a dime. Yes, they do dust like hell, but it's worth cleaning it up after the track.

HPS or HP+? Sounds like you're talking about HP+, just making sure if it's a type-o or not.

They're actually the HPS. I double checked the box. I just noticed that in comparison to the brakes I had on before they dust like crazy. I guess the amount was just in relation to what they were like before.

HPS pads won't cut it on the track. HP+ is a better pad for dual duty, but they dust like crazy and are noisy when cold.

I've always liked the HP+ other than dust and squeaking. I'm running Porterfield R4S right now. They will sustain much higher temps at the track on R compound tires than the HP+ would, they aren't nearly as dirty (and the dust easily cleans off), they make absolutely no noise and I have seen zero impact to the rotors. The only knock I have on the R4S is that when you initially get into the brake pedal the R4S do not come on as aggressive as the HP+ did. I notice this while autocrossing but not on the street or track. Downside is the R4S cost about twice as much.

I don't autocross at all really (because I suck) but hard street driving and a little track. I was going towards the green stuff pads duu to mostly street driving and the smaller amount of dust. Anyone else have a problem with them falling apart on the track?

I have a similiar setup as you and would also consider myself a novice driver, exc no r compounds (kuhmo mx). The ebc red's worked great for me, I drove them on the street and to a few track events. I am going to try a dedicated track pad for my next outing though.......

Ebc greens will vaporize quickly on you at the road race course. Reds will last longer, but after three 20 min sessions my reds were toast (came into the day with maybe 10k miles on them). I am currently running Ebc yellows, havent tracked them yet but Ebc bills them as street/track pads. perhaps look into a set, you can source them online here:

HP+'s squeal like a bastard. They arent a streetable pad at all, on the track they're fine. I removed mine and won't install them for street use ever again. They were driving me crazy. The EBC yellows don't squeal at all.......

I don't have any issues running them on my Fd or M3. They squeal a little on the rear of the BMW.
