Nitto 555Rs..worth it?
Well I have a spare set of 14" wheels i wanted to get some drag radials mounted on, for when I make a trip to the track. The 555rs are about $90 each. BF Goodrich comp T/As are ~$115 each, but I think the Nittos look a little better. I just wondered if anyone has had experience with these on their FC (N/A preferrably) and if they have made a major difference when launching? I may just go to an actual slick, such as a M/T ET slick, but Id like to drive on them to the track, and that wouldnt exactly be legal..

I had a terrible experience with Nitto Drag radials. I had used M and H Racemasters in the past. And with the M and H's got as low as a 1.67 sec. 60 ft time.
With the Nittos... the best was 1.97. And some launches they wouldn't even get me under 2 secs. They are sure crap for drag racing. But Nitto intended you to use them on the street as well. So they perform more like a street tire.
I have MT Et's now and cannot wait til the next event. As far as any good Drag radial.... Just drive carefully at the speed limits to and from the track with a little more tire pressure and you will be fine. But at the track... you should only run 12 - 14 psi of pressure... and launch at high RPMS to get the best launch! have fun

I like the BFG G-force drag radials the best and ive tryed the 555r there ok but the the BFGs are better they cost more and dont last as long tho I always had better luck after heating them up but i was racing on the street not the track. I ran the slickys at the track there more fun!!!!

i have used NITTO's they are very good! my friends have done very well with them. it helps too heat them up in my experience. a hot tire is always stickier than a cold tire. its all rubber you know
