New wheels, fitment and offsets.

I've done quite a bit of research, downloaded the fitment guide in this forum and looked at the fitment thread and all the pics. I've never bought aftermarket wheels before, so I'm trying to figure a couple things out.

I understand that if I want my wheels to fit in the wheel wells then it not only depends on the wheels that I get but also the tires.

I want to get Volk TE37SL's. So what i want to ask is: 1. If I get 17x9 +22 with 265/35's on the front and 17x9.5+28 with 265/35's on the rear, will I have to roll or flare the fenders, or do any other kind of work?

2. Would it be better to just get 18x9 with an offset of say +35 or something with a 255/30 tire size on the front and a 18x10 +35 (or whatever offset) and 275/30's on the rear?

Any input at all and I would be grateful. I'm new to wheels and tires in general because I never did anything on my fc with them. I was usually trying to keep it running instead of worrying about what the wheels looked like. I've got a 94' CW touring now.

Thanks.

Do you want 17s or 18s?

The 17 inch offsets and tire sizes you are listing aren't ideal and won't work with stock fenders.

For 18s, you'd want around 18x9 +45 if you want to be safe with a 255/35 tire (255/30-18 doesn't exist) in the front and an 18x10 +40ish with 275/35-18 in the rear. Going into the 30s for offsets with those widths and stock fenders and you may rub depending on tire width, suspension stiffness, proliferation of slanted driveways/speedbumps in your area etc.

Thank you goodfella. I actually want 18's but i wasnt sure about the rubbing and fender rolling and stuff so I figured I should go down an inch in size just to be sure.

There's a nice thread sticked here with wheel and tire fitment info.

Nothing wrong with 17s, the tires will be cheaper but it's a bit harder to get the top-tier performance tires in the widest sizes.

I looked at all the tire fitment threads and i even downloaded the wheel and tire fitment chart. It helped, i came from knowing nothing about wheels and tires to generally knowing where i want to start, the only thing is that it didnt answer my fender rubbing question and where the offset would sit when you put the wheels on.
