New Wheels Dont Fit :(

I just got my new wheels i needed for my 5 lug conversion on my 82. Problem is the wheels dont fit. The inside of the wheel touches the strut tower and rubs when i turn the wheel. Not only that but there is only about a inch between the top of the wheel and the coil spring. I dont know what to do, Is there anything i can do, I had kosi k1s on it before, 15 inch but not sure the width, these are too wide!! Is there anything I can do. these are 16x7 any suggestions

spacers. measure how much farther you think the wheel needs to come out, and get that size spacer.

Yes, your new wheels have too positive of an offset. What width and offset are they? That information will tell us how much of a spacer you will need. A better solution would be to sell them and buy wheels with the proper offsets, depending on how far off you are now.

there is only about an inch of the studs that poke through the wheels, if i get spacers will that effect the studs even more to where they dont even show.... I guess I could get longer studs right. If I were to get new wheels what is the maximum off set I can have for a first gen

ARP makes longer (and much stronger) wheel studs.

i don't like spacers to begin with. i certainly wouldn't run more than 25mm spacer. imo, sell the wheels and get a set that actually fits. spacers are a bandaid for poor fitting wheels...

this time learn about wheel sizing before buying wheels.

offset doesn't have much meaning in its own right. it has to be paired with a width in order to figure out how the wheel will sit.

take a 7" wide wheel. 0 offset means the mounting surface is right in the middle at 3.5 inches. +40mm means the mounting surface is 40mm closer to the outside face of the wheel, effectively spacing the wheel inwards relative to the car. -40mm means the mounting surface is 40mm closer to the inside face of the wheel, effectively spacing the wheel outwards relative to the car.

now you know... and knowing is half the battle. go out to your car, make some measurements and figure out what size you want to run. good luck.

I havnt figured out if i like the wheels as much as i thought i would, The problem is is that im moving in a week. The car is on jack stands and I have no wheels to move the car, So I am trying to get this done asap so I can move the car.. I am having a wheel place make 1/2 inch spacers for the front and that will take care of it. The problem now is the back. I dont know if I should get a wheel adapter for the back.... if I do I would need to get the right size spacer for the front so that all four wheels would be even. I was thinking about drilling the 5 lugs in the hub for the back and then press in the 5 studs, problem is if I drill them, there will only be about a 1/4 inch between the studs and the outer edge of the hub. And even then, I would have to drill the same holes in the rotor so that the rotor would fit. Any suggestions,, I need to get this done asap so that I can at least move the car. Thanks,

Brad
