new rims

i read on one thread that chrome rims are extremely heavy compared to other rims when racing, off the start, but if i want to race and not be slowed down at the start by chrome rims, but keep the chrome look what kind of rims should i put on?

would 18s fit on an RX7? what kind of tires should i put on it as well?

If your looking for the chrome lip, Racing Hart and Volk have a chromed appearance paint. I forget what its called, but check out the Racing Hart CPF-tuner-R. Thats not a chromed lip on it, but it shines just like one. Volk also has some rims, check around on some of the websites that have pics of those rims. 18's will fit, 19's will fit, 20's will fit, all depends on how deep your pockets are. Also you can put any tire you want. Depends on what kind of racing you're reffering to.

Check out Jimlabs Volk TE 37's. He had them polished...so much in fact that I originally thought they were chrome. If those are not you speed you can check out Fikse, HRE and CCW wheels. I believe they all have options for fully polished finishes.

If you want performance, a smaller and lighter rim gives you the best launch for drag purposes....I would do a search as this has been discussed.

but the stock 16's are very effective...

17's a nice compromise and can get wide rears...

18's...more people are going to these due to clearance of suspension parts and a wider availability of rubber

19's not alot of people run these...

20's....ummm do they fit?!?!?!

So what you are asking for is counter to what you want....if you want 19's then just bling it out with chrome...who cares its your car.

If you are looking for good drag times and launches...pick a lighter rim that has a decent sidewall with polished finish for the "chromed" look.

edit: we are talking about a FD right?

i probably going to go with the 18's, but where is a good place to find polished rims that look like chrome, but aren't as heavy?

what is the most popular style of rim that people are looking for thses days?

yes i am talking about an FD

18 will definitely slow you down, chrome or not. You'll brake slower and accelerate slower with 18. I have 18 and I opted for more mod to make up for the lost in power.

I doubt if chrome will add too much weight. If you want to upgrade and race, get 17. For looks, get a polished 18.

I don't regret going 18 since I don't race.
