Need new tires what do you guys think?

I am looking for a new set of tires for my FD. I have stock rims. I put about 2,000 to 3,000 miles on the car a year. So I am not to worried about them wearing out every year. I mostly drive the car on the street but I am thinking about getting into road type racing. I am not to worried about wet traction, I live in San Diego and I don't drive it when it is raining. I would also like to go bigger on the tire size. like a 225 on the front and a 245 or possiably bigger on the rear. Let me know that you think.

I wouldn't go any wider that 245 in the rear, but 225/245 is a nice setup.

The favorites seem to be Pirelli P-Zero Assymetrico (my recomendation, though I'd be interested to try the Rossa or Nero) or Bridgestone S-03. Both of them offer fantastic grip, excellent sidewall stability, and low noise. I've never really worried about tire life, so I have no idea how that should factor into your decision. (maybe Yokahama AVS for longer life?)

If you're going to be heading to a road course, spend the extra dollars on a good set of tires (like those mentioned above). You'll want a tire with good sidewall stability for responsiveness - a lot of cheaper tires start to feel like jello when you get rough with the wheel (not a good thing).

There are several tire reviews in this forum - just click through the first couple of pages.

And ... uh, use the search function. I can't think of a UHP or MP street tire that hasn't been discussed on this forum at some point in time.

I have some tire info on my site if interested. My advice would be to get something that will wear out fast though because with the miles you are putting on your car they will dry rot before wearing out.
