NEED help fast, ABS questions and pics inside:

Ok here is the dilemma, I think there is something wrong with this "valve?" in my abs system. The red arrow shows where the fluid goes in, BTW these are the lines leading to the rear brakes,. It flows out of the line where the red arrow is but does not come out of the part where the blue arrow is. Anyone know if I could just replace this part, or take it apart and clean it out ?

that is the proportioning valve. You can replace that part. You can also test to see that is is correctly bypassing hydraulic fluid at the irght pressures. The test is in the Factory Service manual. The FSM can be found at iluvmyrx7.com

Yea thats what its called, i forgot...anyhow i took off the two lines that run through it and connected them with a 6 AN fitting, and then blocked off the existing holes where the brake lines went into, the red and blue arrows with 6 an caps, doing that i got fluid to the rear but pressure wasnt there in t he pedal.I did that just to check to make sure that fluid could get back there. Any idea as to how much that proportioning valve costs to get? or can i fix mine.

Well it wasnt the right part that we ordered, that proportioning valve from mazda is 300 bucks!!! WTF its just a small piece of metal with a valve inside. Any one know how to rebuild one? Just wondering if its doable, before i crack it open, id rather try that then spend 300 dollars on brakes that was going towards getting my car tuned.

i do not believe it is rebuildable... the FSM does not talk about rebuilding it.

They don't talk about disassembling and rebuilding the ABS pump either but I did it a few weeks ago

I think one of the main reasons for them not listing it to be rebuilt is that its not commonly done because the proportioning valve is meant not to go bad. I havent heard of anyone elses going bad so far.

Technically I didn't rebuild it. I just replaced my leaking seals with seals from another non-leaking (used) abs pump. More info here .

Yes. And about 30 others. The problem is that I have yet to locate any readily available o-rings that are not round in section.

What about buying a sheet of buna of correct thickness and cutting o-rings out?

A lot of times if you havent changed your brake fluid for a while itll get build up inside the pumps/soleniods etc. I did a cleanup of the master cylinder then went ahead and took apart that proportioning valve and cleaned the inside of that as well, it seemed to have a lot of gunk inside it. Nothing a little brake cleaner didnt fix

Would that buildup be propotional to usage? I ask because I bought my 94 2 Memorial Days ago. It only had 7500 miles on it, so I am really sure that was OEM brake fluid. I did replace the fluid, and was wondering ....

No, just age. Brake fluid attracts moisture just be sitting there. Mazda says to flush and replace FD brake fluid evey 30 months or 30,000 miles.

Yea, damon is correct, I am pretty sure mine hasnt been flushed in god knows how many miles, but I bled the brakes 3 times just to make sure all the crap was out of the lines. Now with new pads, rotors, my car stops like a go kart. Brake fluid is nasty stuff, and over time , it will show
