IMO, if you are going to go with 17's, I would at least go with a 9" rim in the rear (if not all around). It doesn't seem like they have a 17x9 in that rim which has FD friendly offsets though...

 

I also looked into these wheels. I really like the look of them, but they are fairly heavy weighing in around 22 lb for a 17x8 wheel. Plus, as Mahjik stated, they don't have any "fd friendly" offsets for a 17x9 wheel.

 

22lbs at 17X8.. . . ouch. . . save your money and get some light weight rims when you have the cash. SSR Comps, Volks, etc. You will be MUCH happier in the end.

My Volks in 17X10 are on 19lbs and the fronts are 16lbs. I got them used with new tires for $1600.

 

Yeah, at 22lbs, that's heavy. You can get 17x9 5 Zigen FN01R-C all the way around cheap and they weigh about 19lbs for that size I think. Also, for the tires, those are all seasons, is that what you want? I have them on my WRX, exactly for the fact that they are all-seasons, not much for grip in the dry though. Go for some RT615 if you have the money, if not, at least get some ST115, or FK451.

 

Those wheels look ugly in real life. There is some one in the forum that actually has them.

 

A friend of mine has them on his S13...he likes them a lot, and I think they look good. Personally, I think the right fitment will make a wheel look a lot better than a "cool" wheel in a **** offset. Yeah, the Weapons are kinda heavy, but what do you expect for like $150 per wheel...if its a street car I don't see what the big deal is. Even a set of FN01's are going to cost you twice as much...

 

Well, I've now been told by the manufacturer that the 17x9s are 20lbs each (not 22). Is that still relatively heavy?

 

No, I won't be going with all-season tires. Probably Hankook RS or Falken Azenis.

 

IMO 20 lbs is not outrageous for a 17x9...many of the expensive rims that cost 5x as much weigh the same or even more for a 17x9. I think thats fine for a street car...it might not be the best for a track car, but then again you probably wouldn't be running 17s on a track car.

Damn, thats not a bad looking wheel. If you primarily drive on the street, 3lbs per wheel isn't going to be hardly noticable. It's a bummer you can't run a 9'' width though. But honestly if your car is 90% driven on the street(like a majority of the owners on the forum), there is no need to spend $2000 dollars on wheels. It just looks good in your sig.

No, because you can run much wider tires in 17 and 18-inch sizes. A well chosen 17 or 18-inch wheel/tire combo will weigh ~5-6 lbs heavier than the stock setup but provide a lot more grip.
