This may be an alternative to traditional parking brake.

This also may be an alternative for those who are retrofitting the 99spec rear brakes for the SOLE purpose of retaining the parking brake (Jimlab and others may be interested). Please read below:

BRAKES: New Park Brake Improves Interior Space
3/19/2002
Automotive NewsWire - DURA Automotive Systems, Inc.'s new Electronic Park Brake System (EPBS) takes a new approach to parking brake technology.

Unlike traditional parking brakes, the DURA EPBS locates the brake actuator remotely and interfaces with a small interior switch to activate the system. This eliminates the need for a hand brake or foot brake inside the vehicle, freeing valuable interior space.

The EPBS is available in a variety of configurations, which meet specific vehicle requirements. Also, the system features a microcontroller with self diagnostics and automatic installation routines that eliminate the need for the labor intensive OEM factory installation activities. The system allows both manual or automatic apply and release modes with static and dynamic stopping capabilities.

The systems are designed to work in conjunction with hydraulic braking systems typical in mass production vehicles today and are offered in both North American and European DURA facilities.

How would that work in cojunction with a turbo timer? Would it be the same? (tapping into the e-brake wire)

erm... it's called the E-brake because it's a purely mechanical system that you can use to slow the car in an emergency, such as a loss of hydraulic fluid...

I was going to post the same thing till I read to the bottom and saw yours

opps my brakes failed I'll just press the buttom which will lock them up 100% that is asuming that it doesn't use the brake fluid that just all leaked out...

If you want to upgrade rear brakes and e-brake is a problem, couldn't you just change from the e-brake lever actuating the rear brakes to having it actuate a driveline brake?
