i bought my 84gslse with tokico illuminas and stock springs. i now have new springs to put on but im having trouble getting the lock nut off the top of the front shock absorber. im new to cars in general, so forgive me if im missing something obvious, but please help me out.

 

Is the problem that while trying to remove the nut the damper shaft is spinning? Normally you have to use a wrench on the nut while holding the shaft with another small wrench. The end of the shaft typically has a couple flats ground on it to let you hold it with a small wrench.

 

yes, the shaft spins when the nut spins, i'll try to find a flat spot, and i was also told to use a vise grip. thanks

 

i got it all worked out now
