Light Weight 16" wheels
87 Tll with Bilstein Coilovers
Couple of issues..stock wheels contact the coilovers, even with 5mm spacers, '225' tires are very close, so I need something with 32-35 offset. Stock wheels very heavy, so I also want something much lighter...say 15lbs.
Trouble is, its seems most manufacturers build what I want only in 15" or 17" wheels. Anyone know of a 16X7 32-35 offset at 15lbs?
Option 2 ...don't want to go to 17" due weight and cost, but I'm getting conflicting information on whether 15" will clear the 4 pot calipers.

Spacers and FD wheels or Supra wheels.
Supra centerbore is basically same as FC so that's a nice setup. So if you get HR spacers, hubcentric you'll be good to go.
Let me know if you find those wheels and i'll work my magic. Supra's have some wide *** 16's and staggered also. 8's and 9's i believe. FD wheels are crazy light.
You should be able to get away with a 8" +30. I'm doing this with Stance coils and running 245/45/16. In a 7" width I would think you could run a +35 for sure.
In fact Dana had stock GTUs wheels 16x7 +40 and they cleared his JIC's back in the day. Each coilover might have a different diameter but if you email me your current width and offset without spacers I can get an idea of what backspacing you really have.
Do you have camber plates? What kind of camber are you running?

how about 16x8?
5x114.3 16x8 +20mm rota grids
a little overweight at 16ish lbs per wheel
cheap at about $170 per wheel iirc
style wise they are te37 knock offs

16x7 +40... Stock TII size wheel. I think they make them in 5-lug, but I'm not sure.
Made by Nippon Racing... these are the F-2 style Racing wheel, I think. Found a set on ebay for $400 shipped.

Edit: I'm not running coilovers, just Eibach Springs and Tokico blues, with a 225/50/16 tire, and there is no rubbing. They are light by the way. I'd guess somewhere between 15-18 lbs, without tire.

Spot...its the +40 thats the problem with the coilover...I need 5mm spaces with 205's just to get clearance. Leaves me only 8 turns on the lug nuts (yeah..I could change the studs). The Bistein's have built in camber plates, and (Ithink) I'm about -1+ degrees.
asnpoopy...checked out the Rota site...didn't show thr "Grids" in the size you described, but did have "J.SPL's" in 16X7 +35...may have to check them out. Have to check on the weight.
Prefer 5 spokes, not really interested in meshies. These are track wheels, need them to be easy to wash off the brake dust.

I run GAB Sport's in 16" x 7.0", +35.
They are right around 15lbs. each on a certified scale.
There are also slightly wider 7.5" and 8.0" widths out there, and they pop up sometimes at the JDM wheel importers (WheelChoice, Takumi Project, Memory Fab).
Also, check eBay.

Change the wheel studs to ARP wheel studs and run a 7 mm spacer. That is what I do. I ahve the ISC racing Bisltein coilovers which use a 10" spring and they move the spring perch lower. Hence teh rub. I run stock 16x7 S5TII meshies on 225/50/16 Hankook RS211s. With the 7 mm spacer (mr gasket one), it fits fine. Just put a dab of RTV on the spacer so that it stays on the brake hat while you put the wheel on. It's a universal spacer so you gotta make sure you centre it properly by eye and trial and error.
I think the Mitsu EVO available in the states runs a 5x114.3mm PCD, with a 73 mm centre bore, and 30 offset. SO that maybe a good alternative if you are willing to move to 17s.
Those rota grips look very appealing. But is 20 mm too far out? I don't know. It would be perfect for 245/45/16 R comps for autox and HPDE time trial racing. I guess if push comes to shove you can mill 7 mm out of the centre where it mates to the hub to get 27 mm.

Rota Slipstreams or SubZeros are lightweight and cheap, not sure if they offer the offset you need but I'd check them out. Not designed so much for looks but the performance for the buck is definetly there.

Rota 'Grids' are 45 offset ...too much. J.SPL's are 16X7 at +35 which should work fine, and would weigh in at about 13 lb. Slipstreams don't have a 16 with the right offset, but seem to have a 15X7 +35 at about 12.5 lb. Think I'm starting to lean toward 15"'s for track use (other post "15's on a Tll"). Motegi makes the LC5 in 15X7 +35 at 12.5 lb., along with a couple other manufacturers that are even lighter. The Kosei site is under construction, but I'd like to check them out. The K-1's 15X7 weight 13.5 lb., but I hear the are stronger than most, but I don't know what offset is available.
Dont want to go to 8' width as it just adds to my clearance issues ,adds weight, and isn't required for 225 RA-1's.
