LEDA shocks/struts ?

Anyone have any experience or know anything more about the LEDA shocks & struts used on some racing Porsches ?

They supposedly have an application for the RX7 found here:

http://www.racersedge-inc.com/struts.html

TIA,
:-) neil

Looks like some VERY serious, heavy duty equipment. Total overkill for any car with a license plate that's driven on the street, IMHO.

I was quoted $1780 for a full-setup.

Not too bad, esp. compared to the Penske and Koni stuff out there.

I had a set of LEDAs on my 02 GTI and I gotta tell ya, it was a bitch to install. However, once I had the thing dialed in (corner weighting included), it was a blast to drive on. It was a little on the stiff side, which was due to the SRs I was using, but on the track and AXing, it made the FF a very manageable car--almost like I was skilled

If LEDA has an app for FCs, Id definitely look into it since I was very happy with 'em.

That has GOT to be $1780 per corner. No way those things are only $450 apiece.

Actually on the website it says $1939.25* list price "excluding carriage and tax".

*"Donors required".

Not sure what kind of donors they would want though.

Talk to Karl at Racer's Edge. He is very very helpful. I have a friend who has LEDAs on his MKIV Jetta and he had a prob because the set he bought used were for a Bora and Karl helped him out with new rears...great shop.

According to their website, that's the price. $19XX list for 4 coilovers. They must be built pretty shoddily to hit that price point with those features.

In any case, these are racing coilovers and you would be pretty dumb to install these on a street car IMO.

Unless you've used them, you can't make a blind statement like that.

I've seen these in person and driven a car with them installed and they are a great set of COs. They may not hit the price of TEINs or whatever other Jap manufactured COs, but they are very well made. In fact, their build is on par with other manufacturers prods Ive seen and riden on, i.e. Proflex, DMS.

In fact, I was going to go with Japanese made COs, but after finding this thread and my experience with LEDAs, I'm gonna go with LEDAs.

It's not a blind statement. Coilovers with separate reservoirs and the adjustability those offer typically START at about $1000/corner. It's hard to believe they can sell a quality well-made product for the same price as a typical mono-tube coilover setup.

Not to mention VERY adjustable coilovers like this are not for the beginner. With the huge range of adjustments that can be made, it's far easier to end up with an ill-handling car than one that handles well.

For Neil, the orignal poster - what do you plan on doing with the car? Last I saw the car was pretty stock .

Perhaps we can ask them for a discount.

This is for a combo auto-x and track-day car.
FWIW, they also can be UPGRADED to independent double-adjustable with remote resevoirs for $450/each.

The PORSCHE communitiy gives fairly high-regard to the quality.

The donor is only for the spring perchers IF you're using the stock springs.

Maybe a GB is in order...lol

As M104-AMG states, the Porsche community seems to think the quality is good and it seems, regardless of price.

I didn't realize Leda had "affordable" offerings. If you read the pricing the standard ones are $1939 a set.

To get external reservoirs it's $1939 + $1250 and to get double adjustables it's $1939 + $1670. These are not really any cheaper than comparable Penskes and Konis in that case.
