I would like to know the largest size tires that I can run on the rear of a stock suspension FD. Thanks in advance, and YES I did do a search already.

On stock wheels 245/45/16 will fit, just picked up a set of T1S for under 5 bills and just got them mounted yesterday.

Nope, the stock are 16x8". You'd need at LEAST a 9" wide wheel for a 275... vermind that there are no 275-section 16" tires. In short, you'll need a minimum of a 17x9" wheel, prefereably a 17x10" to run a 275/40/17 tire.

245/45/16 is the best you can do on stock wheels.

Is there any disadvantage or anything wrong running 245/45 on the stocks?

I've run 245/45/16 on all 4 tyres for years with no "disadvantages". It is the maximum tyre width to use on a stock wheel.

If you're talking street tires, then that's true. If you're talking race tires, then no ... a 265/45 16 or a 275/45 16 does fit on a 16x8 wheel. It's a tight fit and the tires will look funky, but it does work .... but ONLY for race tires which have VERY stiff sidewalls.

The problem for a stock FD is that the stock wheels do not have the offset necessary to fit the 265's or 275's. If they even fit, they'll probably rub the controls arms and/or springs in the front and most definitely rub the trailing arms in the rear.

I wanted to run Mickey thompson et streets(will be on the car at all times) and am wondering what size to order. Anyone have any experience with these tires, or similar, on stock wheels?

You can't drive around on M/T Streets....they are good for driving to the drag strip and back, that's about it. Why do you think you want to run drag strip tires on the street?

The hottest tire out is the new M/T drag radial. It is "streetable" but I wouldn't really want to be caught with them in the rain. A local racer has cut some 1.34 60' times on them (275/50/15) and run a 10.03@137mph. There are many running faster with these than the ET Streets. The M/T ET Streets are downright dangerous in the rain as well. I've heard of plenty of people stacking into telephone poles with going around a corner at 15-20mph in a light drizzle. They are for the dry only.

new M/T Drag Radials:

A 245/50/16 Nitto Drag Radial would be a better bet for 24/7 driving rain/shine IMO. I've had them and as long as you don't make boost they work well in the rain. I cut a 1.71 60ft time on them as well and went mid 11's. Air the tires down to 18psi.... do a healthy burnout and let them rip. I've never tried the M/T drag radials personally.

The FD rear in stock form is notorious for breakage with drag race style driving. I would suggest replacing the Torsen LSD with either an '86-88 T2 clutch pack style LSD or an aftermarket Kazz/Cusco. That should help with longevity.
