Just received my SSR Comp's!!

"I ordered" from the Tire Rack 235/45/17 8.5" for the front and 275/40/17 9.5 for the rear all shod with Bridgestone RE730's.

"I got" 4 225/45/17 on 8.5's with Kumho V700 Victoracer's. In addition they were delivered to a house down the street.

Oh well, back to the rack.

That's funny! I've never had a bad shipment from Tirerack, but I've had a massively frustrating conversation with one of their sales people.

"How wide a width are these wheels avail in?"
"what car do you have"
"93 rx7"
"I only have them for you in 8"
"ok, are they avail in 10" for some other car?"
"you can't fit those on your car"

and it went on and on. UG, very frustrating. Sorry, had to vent.

Unfortunately, you've gotta do your research, then call them. They are clueless and worry about returns so they give you the lowest common denominator, stock sizes.

Wow, that has not been my experience to date. I called them up last week and spoke to a guy called Mario. I asked about the SSR Comps, and was able to get a wheel weight on the 17x8s, and also was able to confirm that we can fit a 275 on a 17x9.5 wheel on the rear. They didn't have any of the rears currently in stock, so I bought one front 17x8 wheel with the understanding that I was going to return it if I didn't like how it looked when I saw it in person, or if I did like it I was going to buy 4 corners (when the 17x9.5s came in). The guy was completely helpful the entire way, and did not give me any BS info.

Then again, I suppose it strongly depends on which person you get. I guess I'll talk to him again when I call back.

Also, do you guys recommend 8.5 on the fronts? I got 8" because a 245 will go on an 17x8 wheel, and the only reason to get 8.5 is if I wanted a 255 on the front.

I was quoted $379 for the 17x8, and $409 for the 17x9.5

jumprdude!

Looks like I got the last 17x9.5 right before you did! I'm going to see it if fits on the front and if so order 17x9.5's all around. I'm in San Jose too so if you want to try the one wheel on your car let me know. I should get it in the next couple of days.

I got mine last week. The 17" X 9 1/2 " do fit on all four corners. They look good with the Kumho autocross tires I put on them. I can not wait untill the next race.

2fast4u,

I just got a single 17x9.5 w/ 275/40-17 and put it on the front. Its diameter is too big and I rub the inner wheelwell when turning. I also suspect I will hit the fender when turning and hitting a bump.

My car has coil-overs and is 25.5" from ground to fenderlip (13-1/8" from wheel center). How high is yours in the front?
I think 255's are a much better bet for me.
