Just ordered EBC Yellow 'R' Pads

"NEW Yellowstuff 1793 Formula Race Pads Launched

The Ultimate Race Brake Pad for Highly Tuned Cars on both Street and Track

Although a full race material and capable of high temperature use with very good wear life, this new formulation sets a new trend in race type brake pad compounds. The “bite” from cold is superb which is uncommon with race materials (normally requiring warm-up) and makes this a pad which can be safely used on the highway as well as on the race track. This new formulation was used by numerous championship race and rally drivers in 2004 and is truly a milestone in brake pad material development.

Nominal friction coefficient 0.46 with zero rotor damage and low dust."

Based on the specs listed in the chart, the yellow Rs seem to offer the best all worlds.

Funny how they don't list MOT specs....

Are you going to be our guinea pig for these?

I was looking for those for the longest time. Where did you buy them from? I asked tirerack and they said they are discontinuing their involvement with EBC products. I asked around and then I even asked the EBC distributor in Canada and he gave me the are you on crack look when i asked him about them.

Unfortunately, I happen to be a pretty slow, non-aggressive guinea pig, but for what it's worth I'll give you my impressions.

Cheers:
I also had a very difficult time tracking the pads down. The company is called Perfect Brakes, LLC. They were around the 10th shop I called regarding. They had them in stock and provided me with an invoice and shipping info by email. The total came to $188 shipped.

Should be interesting, the greens are a nomdust occasional 140-65 stop pad, the reds dust more, and last a little longer, burt are not as good for the street, and last 45 minutes on the track. Bniether the green, or the red ever faded on thje track, they just did not last. Remember most of the european cars are smaller, and lighter. this is where EBC got there great rep, in road race circles they are known for lasting two to three sessions. Yellow will be interesting, esp the dusting. logically they should be a great pad, I like XP1109 Carbotechs, and will be trying the XP1110s next. Only PF is better IMHO. Carl

I'm interested in how these perform as well. The reds work well on the track for me, but are only so-so when cold on the street. One thing is for sure, I will never go back to those noisy, dirty hawk's!

Yeah, I am hating my hawk hp+s. It's funny, I told many many customers about how they dusted/squealed, and they I put them on my car. I guess I figured I have a higher tolerance for that kinda stuff, lol.

Carlisi dropped the yellows off yesterday before making his banzai run back up to boston, so if the weather clears up for more than an hour I am slamming them bitches up in my whip

In case you're wondering-Rich had a greater need for new pads than I did and I needed a set of rotors so we worked out a trade

in case anyone is wondering. EBC brakes as a company are full of $hit. No wonder tirerack decided to drop their product from their website. Here is a little recap. Two months ago I placed an order with JRP. A distributor of EBC brakes for Canada, I asked for EBC yellow stuff part numbers:

DP4763 (front)
DP4729 (rear)

They said 2 weeks. Well after 3 weeks I started calling them everyday wondering where the pads were. Missed my solo1 race, I had to use my HPS pads on my calipers that do not work for more than 2 laps. Good thing solo1 is only a 3 lap race. Anyhow 4 weeks goes by, I get my fronts in, Where are the rears? I asked the canadian distributor JRP this question. No idea, tommorrow. U know how many phone calls 1.5 months worth of calling is each day? I made a minmum of 45 days for these damn pads. Guess what. They said tommorrow for the rears when I checked today. Well i canaceled the order.

I tried to goto perfectbrakes.com or brakesrus (both suggested by EBC USA) 2 weeks ago as companies that can help me out. I tried to order online part number "DP4729". NOPE it doesn't exist.

So now I'm left with, what happens when you try different compounds for pads at the race track. Particularly EBC yellow on the front and Hawk HPS in the rear. This is BS. I will never ever buy an EBC product ever again.

That is my rant for today. Unless carlesi can chime in, I don't even think part number "DP4729" was ever actually made. I had called EBC USA to confirm that these were the correct part numbers for my car.

Carbotech has excellent support, and a very good range of pads. I have never been diappointed with them. A while back I returned three extra sets of REDs to the Tire rack. I had purchased them for my road race car, they worked pretty well(better than the Hawk Blue IMHO), but lasted on ~40 minutes in the front. I switched to Carbotech XP8, the 9, next I will try the 10/11 pads. The 9s are very good for track, and also work well on my Supra, I can track my Supra(3650lbs), AX it, and daily drive it on the 9s with no complaints. Carl
