Its very thin like a 2-3mm, just enough to clear the little nipple on the caliper.

Good job on restoring those BBS mesh rims. I guess I should frequent the junk yards more often so I can score some good rims also. Again good job man and keep it up!

Wow, nice job! Looks great on your car too!

I'm gonna guess 50 bucks for all four of them + your time and the shop materials!

This thread should seriously be consolidated, locked, and stickied
in the new DIY sub-forum we're trying to get. AMAZING job on your
wheels, they are simply jaw dropping. Thank you for posting the
info and step by step guide that you used to get them like that
too, invaluable information! -jd

Silverfc88,

I saw this thread a few months ago, picked up some of the Speedline Wheels from a '91 Lincoln and did what you did. I just got to them about 4 days ago and this is how mine turned out. I'm thinking they look pretty sweet!

Great job on the wheels! After a couple of years mine still look great. Every once in a while I will have to break out the can of Mothers polish to shine them up to remove some of the corrosion or buildup that happens over time.

I never got around to see how much they weigh, but they are light. I think about the same as the stock S5 mesh wheels.

New project for my E36 BMW Touring

Picked up a set of wheels from the junkyard with tires (2 tires good). Just some stocker 15's, tired of rolling on steelies in the winter and wanted to run some alloy's.

From the yard

Started to scuff them up. Did the lip to see what it would look like with a semi dark face and polished lip.

Removed the very top coat. Still deciding if I want to polish the lip or not or just coat the whole wheel. Have to get the tires demounted and remove the tire weight and valve stem.
