Because other than CCWs, American wheels are bland, and you never get what you pay for. Japanese/European branded wheels have vast sizing, color, styles and strong casting i.e. MAT or forged wheels that don't break.

 

JDM quality is generally better than the avg wheels on the market. Hence the higher price. But it's hard to say which wheels are affordable and which are not.
It depends on your budget and what is affordable to you.

 

i think also jdm wheels are more expensive if they are imported or shipped from japan. some companies say they are jdm spec but are really made in US. i think it depends on if you are going to track the car, and what else you are looking for. there are one piece two piece three piece? narrow your search helps a lot.
