I'm debating if I need coilovers or if springs/shocks combo will be fine

I am going to be using as a daily driver with track every now and then maybe but not a lot at all.

My plans are to go wide body later down the line, but I want to get 19's on my FD and I'm wondering if I do go with 19's, do I need to get coilovers? If I get springs will it limit my choices of wheels because of rubbing?

Bee,

Why stop at 22? I'll be the first FD with 32's

Kai, my ideal setup would be

19x8.5 or 19x.9 in the fronts and 19x9.5 or 19x10 in the rears with atleast 235-245 in the front and 275-285 in the rears, this would be if I didn't go widebody.

With widebody, I don't know the specs yet in how wide you can fit on widebody.

with a wide body you will be using a low offset like +20 or +10 so I guess you would be fine without coilovers...with regular body yo will probably need coilovers since you will be using a higher offset..I would just get the coilovers....

Ive always wanted to put 26" on my FD. You know. Give it that open-wheeled look.

Coilovers will help you in setting up your ideal ride height. SImply for aesthetic purposes. I'd suggest gong 18" front and rear. Why do you want 19's?

You won't necessarily need coilovers for 19's any more than you would for 17's or 18's. It depends on the widths and offsets you have.

The need for coilovers related to wheels is that coilovers typically have smaller diameter springs, and offer more clearance for the inside of the wheel.... that doesn't have much to do with the diameter of the wheel.

With the correct offsets, you can put 10" rear and 9" fronts on the car without coilovers.

Frankly, I think putting 19s on a daily driven FD is dumb. Any semi-affordable 19" wheel will be easily damaged with the very short sidewalls required. Not only that, but your brakes will look TINY...not exactly an appealing look. And 19s for the track? Fuggedaboutit.

Additionally, 19" tires are very expensive and you have far fewer choices than in 17" or 18".

With 19" wheels, you will be limited to 235/35 or 245/30 fronts, and 265/30 rears. Anything else will be too tall.

I'm running 19x9.5 +37 rear with 275/30/19 with Tein RA no rubbing.

Yeah, you could do 255/30 front, 275/30 rear. Should theoretically be the same size as their 35-series 18" counterparts. I'd make sure you get something forged at that diameter though, or you'll have a nice set of novelty coffee table bases after 6 months.
