Identify my wheels!

So, I picked up this roller from a guy and while we were chatting, he mentioned the wheels on it were bought straight from Japan and apparently are quite rare here. All I know is that they are Stern wheels and 17x7.5 and 17x9.

I just want to know what model they are and if they're worth much (guy on a local board didn't know the model but thought they were worth about $1200-1500). I don't expect to sell them, but I'd like to know if I have a set of $500 ricer wheels or $2000 wheels.

Any help is appreciated!

Those wheels are old school! Remember seeing those on a local 10AE Turbo II about 10 years ago!

Don't know the model name, but they are indeed Stern wheels, and a set of them was on sale in the classifieds a while back:

Ah, cool. No wonder they're hard (impossible so far) to find information on so far!

I think they look very good on the car which is all I really care, but I do like to be knowledgeable about everything on my car, since invariably someone will ask questions about those 1 or 2 things that I don't know much about.

Thanks for the bit of info. Anyone else a JDM ***** who might be able to add more?

Sorry Im late. I had some of these wheels about 5 years ago. I bought them from a wheel importer for $500-600 dollars including used tires for the FC I had at the time. Unfortunately I traded them back to the shop for some other wheels that fit my car much better. I wish I hadnt done that because those wheels would have fit my FD perfectly now.

At the time I didnt know much about wheels (I was a youngin') so I dont remember much about them. Honestly I dont think theyre worth over $1,000 considering people dont know much about them and theyre not a "tyte JDM brand." If I were to see them for sale again, I would expect to pay around $600-700 for them. I can post pictures of my old wheels if you want. Sorry I wasnt much help.

I think they are Stern Beast wheels. There are two different faces, this might be one of them. It's a bit curvy of a spoke and i've seen the flatter spoke versions of them.

FYI, stern does not manufacture wheels and the OLD STERN was JDM, the NEW STERN is TDM. haha. taiwan domestic market.

Stern used various manufacturers like Work to produce their older multpipiece wheels. they are expensive and of quality.

hi brent!

like rishie said, those wheels are really nice 3 piece wheels made in japan, you should keep them. I wonder if some nissan forums' wheel ****** would know exactly what they are and have some weight/price info... some of those guys are crazy about wheels.

if you tried to sell them you wouldnt get as much as I think they should sell for... i.e. I think theyre much nicer than you would think based on market prices being relatively inexpensive.

they sure look good on your fd.

Heya! Give me a ring if you have time to stop over this weekend. I don't really check roclife anymore, so PMs on there probably won't get to me in time now.

I may have Moffitt put up a post on a couple Nissan boards he's on, or maybe head over to the 240 boards I used to hang out on and see if they know anything. The wheels are really starting to grow on me, I think they should look great on the car when she's all put back together.

Originally, I thought they may have an inflated price due to JDMness and that I could get a nicer set of wheels for the same price, but, at the $600-1000 I could sell them for, I could barely buy Rotas and a decent set of tires. I think these should serve me just fine.

heheh HIYA!
yeah you gotta keep them, theyre the best wheels you can get for that kind of cash, no doubt. I bet theyre lightweight too, in the ranks with other work, volk and ssr 3piece wheels of the same size. they will absolutely look amazing when the car is all back together and shined up, yes!

cool, I should have some time this weekend to come over, I'll give you a call.

I say keep the wheels. I wish I kept mine. Too bad you can't get much money for them on the street. Maybe they'll be worth a little more later on. For comparison, I picked up a set of 2 piece Volk GTU wheels (the old OG style) for under $600. From a buyers perspective, its an awesome deal but if I were the seller, I'd be sad because I couldnt sell my cool wheels for much money

It would be hard to beat the deal you got. Too bad tires cost more than the wheels
