i know its been talking about many times, but please help me out with brake rotors

first off, i know its been discussed previously an dive searched and read. just please dont post unless youre giving me advice. here you go.

i need a set of rotors that fit the 4 piston 2nd gen fronts to go on my 1st gen. i found a company on ebay that takes brembo blanks and slots, drills, dimples them, whichever you choose. i talked to them and they seem like pretty legit people, for both fronts either just slotted or slotted and dimpled i can get them for $125 shipped. i also looked at EBC slotted and dimpled rotors for $230 for the front and powerslots new cryos for $125 a piece...i cant find it now, now i see them as $400. ill have to look some more. i plan on running either hawk HPS pads or EBC green stuff. the car they will be going on is a first gen that will be pushing around 200rwhp, will do a lot of spirited driving, MAYBE some track time.

here are my options:
ebay brembo blanks slotted maybe with dimples
EBC slotted with dimples
powerslot slotted, maybe the cryo treated ones

and for pads:
EBC green stuff
hawk HPS
hawk HP plus (afraid they may be too much for my application)

any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

If you want my advice, i'd say go with the plain 'ol Brembo blanks. You can get them from tirerack.com for ~$60 apiece. Most people i know who track their cars just use the blanks as they're stronger than cross drilled or slotted. The performance gains realized by "letting the gases escape" are minimal at best, unless you get your rotors and pads *extremely* hot, in which case they'll probably crack anyway.

But if you want looks as well as function (like i do) i'd go with the brembo slotted ones. I bought the Brembo Sport Slotted Rotor for my FD and love 'em. They do great at the track, look good, and never rust because the hubs are coated for corrosion resistance. (Well, i dont know about never...but i've had mine for quite a while now with no signs of rust.)

BTW, you can compare some of those prices to what tirerack offers here: http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/resul...ategory=Rotors

Oh, and i wouldn't go with the hawk HP+ for street...they dust like a ****. Personally i run them on the street, but that's because i just dont want to change em every time i go to the track. And for as light a car as the 1st gen is, i'd recommend the HPS. They're just a great performance street compound and i've used them on all my cars. Plus since you already have an upgraded brake system, you shouldn't need any sort of track-type compound to get the performance you're looking for. But if you DO plan on going to the track, unless it's regularly, just swap on the HP+ before you go and you'll have the best of both worlds.
