how wide can I go on 16x7's?

well i have my good ol' trusty ADR DTMs and I don't really want to buy new rims so I was thinking of just putting as much sticky rubber on them as I could but I don't know what the rule of tumb is...............I know I can't go too wide in the front so I'll most likely keep my 225's in the front but I want to know how wide my tires can be in the rear....

You could probably put some 18x8s on there, no problem.

yeah, prolly 245s, it'd be tight though. Definetly stick with the 225s on the front.

I have 225/50's on mine and they look nice and flush. I have seen 245/55's but I wouldn't recomend it. Besides unless you are putting down tons of power/torque you wouldn't need 245's.

Check TireRack's site. They have a lot of fitment info. IIRC, max width on 7" rims will vary slightly with the tire manufacture, but I've never seen anyone that would go wider than 245. And FWIW, I think you'd want to go with 245/45 (not 245/50) to keep overall diameter the same.

On an S5, anything wider than 225's in front will rub the spring.
