Cut up a cardboard box or two, place a piece of cardboard on the face of the rim to protect it, then wrap the tire with multiple layers of bargain basement plastic wrap. Mummify the sucker. Takes about 3-4 minutes per tire (just have someone hold the roll of plastic wrap, while you spin the tire and turn it every few layers), you can do 2 at once if the weight is under the UPS limit. Costs about $5 total for a set of 4.
