how to load suspension to torque bolts?

this may be a dumb question but i pressed my superpros in this weekend and the package says to torque the bolts at normal ride height to prevent premature bushing wear.

so i need to load the suspension and still have access to all the bolts i need to torque. can i put jack stands under the front and rear control arms to do this? id put them as far over as i could where the wheel would go. safe to do this?

thx

ideally you would do that on an alignment rack. same goes for adjustable sway bar endlinks.

ideally id have a lift so i can just put the wheels on and do it that way but i have 4 jack stands and 2 jacks. i need to torque everything so i can drive it for the alignment.

is it safe to lower the car on jackstands at the 4 corners under the control arms?

thx

Do you have (or can you borrow) a set of ramps? Otherwise, what you said should be feasible as long as you don't damage the arms in the process....

you can also disconnect your shocks, move the control arms up to a level positon (approximate ride height), torque, then reattach shocks.

^Good idea.

Couple of other ideas:
1. Get the car up on jack stands. Put a jack under the tire or control arm and jack the wheel up to the level it would be when on the ground.
2. If you don't have ramps, place a brick under the tires. That should give you a little bit of room to get under the car. I do this to tighten the sway bar end links.

I used two bricks and a 2''x6'' board under each wheel.

Board on top of bricks while car is on jack stands. Remove jack stands and it gives you enough room to torque everything while the suspension is loaded.
