How hard Ground Control coilovers are?

Hi everybody!

I'm looking for some springs which will be as close to stock as possible in terms of stiffness and height, because OEM springs are insanely priced.

I've came to Ground Control:

But can anyone tell me how hard they really are on their softest?

Thanks in advance!

How stiff/hard they are depends on the ratings of the springs that you buy for the kit. They sale different spring rates. You can not adjust the spring rate, only ride height. Thus your question is invalid.

I bought them for my FD and their sofest spring rate was stiffer than stock.

A quick look on the GC site shows that they've got down to 100lb/in springs in a 10" and 150 in an 8". Call or email them directly and ask them about what lengths you'd need.

Another option would be to get some soft lowering springs and make some spacers to raise the ride height back up to stock levels. If you can use the 10" springs all around that'd be about equal to stock rates.

I have used their springs in several cars , and used these cars in different forms of racing . Just call them and tell them what you want , they can even make you a set based on what type of ride you want . I have spoken to them on several occasions

Eibach's are progressive and are very soft to start, but they stiffen up, the Racing Beat ones aren't much stiffer than stock and are about 1" lower.

After i've installed my Eibach's car became much lower than it should and became really really harsh and start to understeer badly. I've bought those from eBay pretty cheap, they do look authentic, but is it possible that it's a fake?

I'm really starting to think of ordering Ground Controls with stock spring rates. BTW can somebody point me out how much are those?

Thanks!

Ohh... I just found the spring rates on mazdatrix' website, which are:
FRONT 95
REAR 90

but thanks anyway!

You might be hitting the bump stops on the Eibach's. You could try making spacers to raise the car up and get you off the stops. That'll help improve the ride if that's the problem.

A set of GC's is $409 for any spring rates that Eibach makes. For stock height and 100lb/in springs you can probably use those 10" ones in front. The rears might even need longer springs to get the height up to stock, I'm not sure though, you'd need to talk to them.

Thanks for your input!

I have a feeling that you're right on that. Weird, but how is that possible that i hit the bump stops?

Talk to GC before ordering a GC kit with springs. Even though the stock springs may only be ~100 lbs/in, that doesn't mean that you can necessarily run ERS (the Eibach springs that fit GC coil-over kits) springs that soft. On my FD, the stock rear springs are 200 lbs/in. With 250 lbs/in ERS springs, the spring would coil-bind (compress fully) before I hit the bump stop. Just be aware that this kind of thing is possible, and listen to GC's advice about what springs would be good for your application. My experience was my own experimentation, and NOT based on a GC recommendation. I am sure GC knows what they are doing and could give you some good advice.

I don't know of anywhere to get any that'll fit the FC, it's the sort of thing you'll need to get made for you.

This sort of thing.
