HKS Hipermax adjustment?

I feel like a dork even asking, but here goes

I recently bought a set of HKS Hipermax D-Spec coilovers for my FC. I got 'em used and the seller didn't include the adjustment tool for the front dampening. Can I just use an alan wrench to adjust them?
Also, I'm coming from a set of AGXs. For the rear, there's a big **** to adjust the dampening...on the HKSs, there's no ****. There is a nut in the spot where I think the adjustment **** should be, but I'm a little nervous about loosening it...I don't want to ruin my new suspension before I even get to have fun with it yet.

I've searched and searched, but I'm coming up short. I'm 99% sure that that nut is where I'm supposed to adjust them, but...

Attached is a (huge) pic of the set up I have. I circled what I think I should be turning...is this right? If not, how do I adjust the rear dampening?

My guess is that you should not turn that nut. Does the top of the shock shaft have an adjustment?

Not that I could tell, and it's under the rear speakers. My old JIC FLTA-2s had an adjustment **** at the bottom of the shock on the rears, but these HKSs are kinda confusing me.

Thanks for the reply, though!

here's a pic of the top of the rears:

27 views and nobody knows? I guess I don't feel like a dork anymore...now I just need to know how to adjust these damn things. I've tried contacting several dealers, but no answer to my emails.

Take a close-up picture of the top of the shock shaft (the "bolt" sticking out of the middle of the top). The pic above is way too small to see what the shaft looks like. The fact that you posted that pic makes me think you aren't understanding what I meant about the adjustment being performed via the top of the shaft.

Take another close-up pic of the nut on the shock body, too.

The fact that the picture in your first post shows nuts on the bottom of both shocks (even though I know those aren't a set of FCs), along with the fact that there is an adjustment tool that looks like you stick it in the top of the shock shaft, makes me think those ***** aren't the damping adjustment. But this is just my guess -- I am really not sure one way or the other.

I know the shock tops are hidden by the speakers, but aftermarket parts aren't always very conscious of convenience.

I hear ya Max, and I'm beginning to think the same thing. The pic I posted is from the guy who sold them to me, so I don't have a higher-res one. I have the f-in' Flu right now, but once I'm feeling better, I'll take my interior apart again and see if I can adjust them from there. I wonder what those nuts at the bottom do...?

Kinda lame if I can't have any speakers or sound deadening back there. lol, also kinda lame if I miss Mazfest because of the Flu.

The nuts might be for optional external reservoirs, or gas/oil filling.

I have adjustable shocks and I pretty much leave them on one setting most of the time, no matter what I am doing with the car. You might find that you don't adjust them much once you find some settings that work for you.

I hope you feel better.

So, will a normal allen key work on these coilovers? Also, does anyone know what is the right nitrogen pressure for them (street use)?
