Help ! Getting 19" rims, not sure about tire size
I know alot of people are against large rims in this forum, since it henders performance. Well i'm not taking my car to the track, i already have enough speeding tickets, so now i'm gonna upgrade in the looks department, and i want to fill up the wheel base, but still be able to be a every day driver. This is what i'm thinking about getting:
19X8.5 chrome rim that weighs 22 lbs
It comes with 225/35/19
But i was told i could go with 245/35/19.
What size tire should i go with, I was told the 225 size will expose the rim more, and would have the possiblity to bend the rim easier.
And the 245 will protect it better. But not sure if i have to roll fender.
What will look better, and be able to turn better with out hitting the inner fender? Thanks

That's the same combination I'll be using in the front. 19 x 8.5s, +45mm offset, with P245/35-19s. In the back, I'll be running 19 x 10s, +51mm offset, with P285/30-19s.
Finding the front wheel combination is relatively easy. Finding a 19 x 10 in a +51mm offset off the shelf is pretty much impossible. I'll be having wheels made to order, since I already bought the tires (Bridgestone S03 Pole Positions).

245/30/19's is near identical to stock diameter. Only available in Dunlop SP9000 and Pirelli Pzero Rosso Assimetrical (sp) - 24.8" diameter. Tirerack does not list specs in the Dunlop, but a call to them confirmed 24.8". The Pirellis are not even listed on Tireracks site, but is on their official website.
The Rosso's tend to run a bit tall compared to other brands/models - looking at the specs at tirerack.com - so I'm guessing the Rosso 245/30/19 is closer to 25". The 255/30/19 listed has a diameter of 25.3" in the Rosso's.
245/35/19's are a theoritical 25.8" diameter and may or maynot be a tad to tall depending.
The 255/30/19's are a good choice too, and only a half inch taller then stock, and is approved for wheels 8" to 9.5" width. Currently listed as available only in the Pirelli ' Rossos, but was briefly listed in the Pirelli Neros too (along with a bunch of other 19" sizes). Oddly enough, they (a bunch of 19" sizes) disappeared after being listed for a couple weeks.
Yes, I have no life and scan Tirerack and other tire websites on almost a daily basis.
In either case, both the 245/30 and 255/30 will work nicely. No idea on ride though. I have pics of the 245/30's if anybody wants to gawk at the sidewall.
If you had 9" wide wheels, then a 265/30/19 might work as well. Both the Continental Contact2's and Dunlop SP9000 in this size are 25.2" diameter (the Conti's are listed, the Dunlops you'll have to call to get specs).
I will be doing 265/30/19s and 285/30/19s on 19X9 +45 and 19X10 +45. There is a mismatch between the diameters front to rear - which may or maynot cause problems with the ABS (according to what I heard once on the forums) - but I guess I'll be the test subject and find out. Worst case scenario, I'll just change out to a 245/35 so that diameters match, and just becareful about fender lip contact while turning (onto driveways).
Part of my reason for wanting to go with the 265/30 up front is to maximize the air space inside the tire. While most people think of sidewall height affecting ride quality, it's also how much overall air volume you have in the tire as well ( some sort of coorelation going on here). Less air volume is less compressible then more of course, and a rim designed to have a greater air volume is one selling point Ray's touts of the Volk TE37 in the 19's. I'll see if I can find the ad somewhere.
