Help with BBK dunno what to do

Hey guys im looking for a BBK and i dont know whats what when it comes to brakes, im running all stock setup right now and looking at doing the fronts only for right now any suggestions would be great.

Also i saw that thread using the G37 rotors and brembo calipers but im more of a name brand/ best performance (despite $$$) / flashy guy.

That being said im looking for something decent below 2500$ for front brakes ive seen some alright deals on willowoods or ksports but im looking to go stoptechs cause i hear good things but id rather hear opinions from you guys.

This setup is mainly going to be used for track so im all in for pure performance noise, comfort or difficulty is not an issue, i want the abosulte best for the best price

I would say put your money towards a brembo gt kit or willwood
I'd look for a six or eight piston caliper kit.
The $$$$ isnt in the calipers but the rotors. THe GT kit comes with a two peice floating hat which saves lots of lbs.

If you get the brembo from the g35, it's really all about looks. If you drove a sentra or a mazdaspeed 3, id say go for it. But you dont, you drive a rx-7 which deserves better brakes than some other car.

If the rx-7 were made today, trust me the r package would come with shiny brembo calipers just like the z and g37

StopTech front kit or RacingBrake 4 corner BBK

Search for threads in the Suspension/Brakes/Tires/Wheels forum.

If you are looking to upgrade just the front brakes and want to keep the bias close to factory I would go with Stoptech.

Hi Arthur,

Feel free to contact me in regards to your purchase.

Racingbrake has comprised a front and rear kit for the FD which has been widely used on forum member vehicles. i think bang for buck that's the way to go.

Their warehouse is in Fullerton also so i can arrange a will call which would save you a good amount on shipping.

Not too mention you get an even better deal as a forum member when you buy from us.

I sure can but question is "Can they be afforded with the current state of the dollar?" Our dollar sux so bad that it's causing JDM products to go up anywhere from 20-30%.

Send me a pm with your zip, color of caliper, and i'll quote it out. Hope for the best.

So the question came up regarding the point of running a larger Rear Rotor with a Stock Rear Caliper.

1. Why would they retain the stock rear caliper on the FD? Why don't companies make an Aftermarket Upgraded Rear Caliper/BBK

Answer: FD does not use a "Drum style ebrake" mechanism like EVO, Subaru, or 350Z. As a result if you were to replace the rear caliper you would lose ebrake function unless you did 1 of 2 things.

1. Purchase a Hydraulic ebrake and plum into the rear brake system.
2. Purchase a Wilwood Auxillary Ebrake caliper which will tie into the ebrake cable system.

2. What's the advantage of larger rotor if still using stock caliper?

Answer:

1. Physics will dictate that the brake torque will still increase if placed further out on the rotor, even though the "contact patch/footrpint" of brake pad has not changed.

2. A larger rotor = larger heat sink. As a result the larger rotor will also have better cooling capacities than the OEM Size.

Can't go wrong working with Rishie at Auto RND. Just got a fresh set of ET800s from him for my RB BBK. Excellent service and a knowledgeable guy.

haha, believe me I am well aware of the exchange rate, at least it has been getting slightly stronger as of late. When I have the money I am going to PM you about pricing one out, just wanted to verify you still could get them.

Why not use the Stoptech front kit designed for RZ rear brakes and use the RB rear kit? Based on research alone with no in car experience I would think that set-up is the best all out brake option available to the FD crowd. You get anti-knock back springs in the front to combat the known FD issue with pad knock back and the bias ought to be dead on. Thoughts?
