Hawk HP Plus pads squealing?

Anyone have this issue? All the reviews from them said they didn't squeal... It seems like at low temps they don't squeal at all, and at high brakeing temps its ungodly loud. If I'm hard on them they don't squeal, and the stop with no fade, yet if i'm gently coming into a stoplight it'll blow your ear drums out.

I broke them in per Hawk's instruction, but they still don't feel right... is there any method of re-breaking them in? or do I need to take the calipers off and sand the rotors/pads to de-glaze them?

Or should I just swap over to the HPS street pads?

I am not sure if you have tried this one yet, but check your caliper there might be some brake pad debries stuck in the calipers.

I mean check the sides where the pads grabs (sits) I wish i have a pic right now, but i have experienced the pads that are making this high pitch squeals when its not supposed to, little i know there were some brake pad shavings that has been sitting there

First of all, I don't know what reviews you read, because Hawk HP+ are known to squeal....

Secondly, you should only be getting squealing under very light braking...hard braking should not be squealing. Something is wrong...

Mine don't squeal. They did just a little bit after I tried to brake them in the first time, but after two trips to deals gap they don't squeal at all anymore.

no, no, If I'm hard on them they don't squeal. If I'm coming to a rolling stop very slowly it's VERY high pitched. They do make some more quiet squealing noises (that seems to be the norm which i'm fine with.) I have to re-bleed the brakes again to get a firmer pedal, i'll check the pads for debris.

Thanks for the advice all.

Sorry for misreading your post above....I hate to tell you this but the behaviour you describe is pretty typical for HP+...which is one of the reasons I'm never running Hawk pads again.

Do the HPS street pads squeal like this? or is it just the HP+ Race pads?

The HP+ are an autocross/light track pad. They squeal. I had them on my cobra and it drove me insane. I took them off within 2 weeks. I followed the bedding procedure, used anti-squeal and brake caliper grease in all the proper places, had the rotors cut, and even torqued the bolts. Made no difference. I switched to Waggner Thermoquiets. They don't bite as hard but squeal alot less. I always had good results using Hawk HPS pads on my rx-7. I'd never buy the HP+ again. If I go to the track I'll use Blues.

Just to confirm what everyone else is saying, I am using the HPS pads on my FD and they dont sqeaul, and bite very hard. Id say this pad is much more suited for street driving than the HP+, but Im sure you already know that.
