I had new pads on the front of my car when I got it, but the rears needed to be replaced desparately, so I put some Hawk HPS pads on. I've noticed that they dust quite a bit more than the Performance Friction pads that I've got on my Tacoma, so my next set of fronts will probably be Performace Friction as well.

Blast. Guess my friend uses them because he doesn't have stock front calipers.

Where did you get that info? Performance Friction's own website only give a part number for rear brakes -- 0482.10

I'm a W/D for Porterfield (and Carbotech), and Porterfield also supplies us with Hawk, Performance Friction, and Raybestos. It's in the Porterfield catalog. I can call on Tues to confirm

Perhaps they use their own backing plate and cut the PF friction material from large stock to supply additional P/N's??

Yes. Very good track pad. Extremely high torque compound. Eats rotors .... cold bite sucks doo-doo. Strictly a track pad, to my knowledge. I have not heard that they make a street compound.

what are you HPS+ guys using to lube the pads? A friend of mine has a set for the front of her FC, and they squeel like crazy. It's not just a little squeek, it's LOUD. We have tried using differnt pad shims, pad goo stuff, everything I can think of, and they still squeel.

btw-the pads have <100 miles on them, and were beded in correctly.

Nothing. Both sets of my HP+ have only squealed under VERY light braking. They never squeal any other time.

I had the HP+ on, and yanked them after 500 miles because of the dust. I haven't tracked the car yet, and am quite satisfied with my EBC greens.

I use HPS for the street and the HP+ pads for the track, and I am very pleased with this setup. Although I've been swapping out all four corners, I think the next time around I'm just going to leave the HPS in on the rear given how little work they do anyway.

If you plan on doing track events be sure a brake fluid change is in your checklist of things to do. While you're at it, swap out the pads (the front pads are really really easy...with wheels off, you can do it in less than 5 minutes).

The dust from HP+ is pretty nasty...whenever I come back from a track event, the wheels are totally black. They have great bite, however, and I have yet to experience serious brake fade.

HP+ = Get black wheels, dust won't show.

HPS is a much better street pad.

HP+ pads aren't really a full track pad. On tracks that are hard on brakes, they will fade (but never go away completely). They do feel great on the street (but all the dust!) and before they fade on the track. Hawk Blacks are pretty nice (good brake feel) for moderate braking tracks -- I ran those at Laguna one weekend and they were really nice. Blues are better for heavy braking tracks (and thus might be a better choice if you just want to have one set of track pads).

I run HPS.

Not much brake dust, but more than stock.

Very progressive.

Good for autocross, (never faded at autocross).

Have faded them with very spirited street driving.

Never been on the track.

Max,

Wanna guinea pig some endless pads for us. Rishie gave you as a reference and reliable source of mass information. He spoke extremely highly of yourself. We're in Huntington beach. Please let me know if you have an events calendar. I hope you are aware of our reputation in japan and since you've used many others would be great to get feedback from you.

Thanks, ED USA
