Got some 'vert wheels, have a quick question or two.
I got a really good deal on some nice vert wheels and painted the centers a nice glossy black. They came with some decent Firestone tires that have a good deal of meat on them, but I'm not sure if I should use them or get new tires.
The reason I say this is because they have some really small cracks on the sidewalls that open up a bit when you push on the sidewall. They are holding air, but I don't know how long they have been sitting and if they're safe to drive on (I'm thinking no, but my knowledge about tires is limited to if the belts are showing, replace them ).
I was also wondering how hard it is to get a hold of some center caps. Can you use any BBS center cap as long as it's for the 15" mesh-type wheel (I'm thinking of hitting up the junkers and try some of the BMW caps), or do you need the Mazda specific ones? I plan on painting them black to match the wheel and then painting the "nut" part of it that protrudes a metallic color that will match the polished lip.
Thanks!

Hmmm, those look like some tasty coating jobs. If this paint gets too fucked up I'll definatly consider sending them to you.
I'm definatly going to toss these tires since I got a really good look at them in the daylight and the sidewalls are fucked.
Instead of buying new tires I'm just going to take my GXL wheels with practically new tires in and have them switch them to the BBS wheels and only pay the moutning fee.
Is it possible to pull the tires off the GXL wheels myself so I don't have to lug the old wheels around?
