If you can't afford to replace a set of tire (which aren't quick replacement items, I mean you can SEE them wearing), then you should probably let the FD go and get something cheaper to own.

You can get a set of good tires in the stock size for $360 from Tire Rack (Kumho MX).

I agree. $400 US is the minimum I would spend on tires for an FD. They don't have to be z-rated, but I would still get a tire with a better-than-crap speed rating. I got some Falken Ziex ZE-512s for my daily driver for $100/ea and they're reasonably good.

You might find someone locally selling some worn-but-usable tires for a reasonable price, too.

Ok i changed the front tires, got Hercules G3000V anyone buy these tires? are they good ??

Anyways i drive for a bit and i notice that my steering wheel isnt lining up properly... It does not pull left or right, its just when i even up the steering wheel to the centre position the car will slightly turn to the left.

Normal sterring position on a straight road and the steering wheel is a tad to the right, but still noticable...

Has anyone had this type of problem before, and if it is the new tires that may be causing it, or is there something wrong with my steering ?

Assuming that the "pull" was not present previous to replacing the tires, then yes, the tires may be causing your problem.

It is also possible that your alignment may be off and the previous tires were pulling to counteract the misalignment (not likely but i've seen it happen).

My recommendation is to take the vehicle back to where you purchased the tires and have them switch the two new tires.

-If the new tires are NOT unidirectional (designed to spin one way, usually indicated by an arrow on the sidewall of the tire) then you can switch them yourself with a floorjack and a breaker bar.

-If the new tires ARE unidirectional then you should take it to the shop you purchased them at because they will need to be dismounted, moved to the opposite wheel, and rebalanced.

Possibility #1:

You switch the tires and the vehicle now "pulls" the opposite direction. I would ask the tire shop about replacing the tires (or tire) causing the pull.

Possibility #2:

You switch the tires and the vehicle still "pulls" the same direction or does not pull at all. In this case the alignment could possibly be off. Either it would be off enough to cause the car to still pull after switched or the car would ceace pulling in which case the tires also pull but now to the opposite direction cancelling out the poor alignment.


Overall, your best bet is to return to where you bought the tires and have them take a look at it. If they tell you nothing is wrong then they are lying, cars do not pull on thier own, especially after you have just put tires on it. I would put my money on bad tires if this problem is just now occurring.

Edit: Even though the car doesn't "pull" as you decribed it, the fact that you have to hold the steering wheel at an angle to go straight indicates a "pull" of sorts. I misread your post a little however the advice still applies.

Alignment.

When changing tires, your alignment shouldn't change. (They screwed up your alignment). If you paid for an alignment, the steering wheel should line up perfectly to center. (They tried to align it and didn't do it right). Either way, it sounds like you deserve to take it back for an alignment for no charge.

No, generally not.

Although now I read again your first post - if you checked a curb hard, you probably bent a tie rod or something and will need an alignment. So if it was possibly this way because of the original incident, I wouldn't blame the tire shop.
