Has anyone painted their stock FB wheels gold with clearcoat? I was wondering what they would look like on a red 85 GS. I have an extra set and thought I would bead blast them and sand out the rough spots then paint them with a gold that would look good with the red then put a couple of clear costs on. Will this hold up well or would I be better off just polishing them out?

I had an 82 GSL that was Renaissance Red. The wheels were Enkie Gold Mesh wheels with chrome lips. They looked very good on a red car. I don't think the stock wheels would look very good if they were all gold. Maybe just the polished part of the center should be gold. Perhaps you should try doing one wheel to see if you like it. If you hate it, finding another wheel shouldn't be too hard.
