Going from 12 kg/mm to 10 kg/mm

Hi guys,

I have 12kg/mm springs on my coilovers. It's too hard for the street. I'd like to soften the springs. Someone already experienced softening the springs by 2kg/mm? Will I see a noticeable improvement?

Thanks

Alex

I think you will. I have the JIC 10kg/8kg setup and think it's a nice compromise. I could see 12kg being too hard.

Obviously it will be softer.

Both 10 and 12 are very high for an FC. Those sound more like FD rates.

Most street coilovers are about 8 and 6 are they not?

Very true about the difference between the FD and FC. 10/8 is certainly a common FD setup. It's what I have for my FD. I rather like it too.

how the ride is is very dependent on the dampers...

I have 10.6 F /9 R on my FC and it's completely fine on the street. but I have fairly nicely valved bilsteins.

most japanese coilovers have too much bump, and softening the springs will just band aid the problem... you will probably be able to lower the rebound and the bump together to match the softer springs which will help.
